Hi all,

Just cleaned the car and found loads of nuts in various places in the engine. We got a pesky squirrel any ideas on how to deter it going in I don't want it to chew through anything !!!

Hellllllpppp

All I'll say is, .22 flathead is far more effective than a .177 and you have to get at the base of the skull...

I think it's a squirrel they are really tame round here people keep feeding them monkey nuts! Either why mice not good either they like chewing on things.. Pipes and wires :-(

Have exactly the same problem. Although this time it is acorns rather than peanuts. One can buy a product called 'Fox Pee' which can be either synthetic or real. The smell of this apparently scares the heck out of squirrels and rats and mice. Cannot find it on sale in Europe, but lots available in the USA where homeowners use it to keep squirrels out of their bird feeders. If you can find a source, let us all know.

Not particularly relevant, but a few years ago there were reports of Crackhead squirrels in the Brixton/Stockwell areas; They were seeing the dealers bury their stash, thinking they were nuts and going and digging then up, eating it and getting hooked! True story...

stop it it would kill them on the spot

On a serious note any places I should check where they could get into?

I once heard a story about Dale Winton and a hamster but don't think it's related to this particular problem?? :whistle2:

How do you catch a mechanically inclined squirrel? Act like a 12 mm nut...

I'll grab my coat now

You guys ;-) I don't know what to do it's driving me 'nuts'

before you touch the nuts, make sure the coast is clear! Squirrels have been known to take exception to people messing with their stash.

Oh no. I genuinely thought that you had seen a squirrel in your engine somewhere, and had put the nuts there yourself in an effort to lure the squirrel out from the depths of your engine! I was thinking for a few moments "When the squirrel shows his face and goes for the nuts, how will he get it out? Reach in and grab it when it goes for the nuts??"

Not my finest moment, thanks for clearing that one up...

Lmao that's brilliant made me actually laugh at my desk, I now have a vision of me trying to bob and weave with a squirrel under the bonnet
