Morning All,

I noticed yesterday that the drivers door lock was not working via the key fob to lock or unlock, neither does the drivers door electric mirror.

Below is what VCDS brought up

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver Labels: 8P0-959-801-MIN3.lbl
Part No SW: 8P0 959 801 K HW: 8P0 959 801 K
Component: Tuer-SG H03 0060
Coding: 0000692
Shop #: WSC 06314 000 00000
VCID: 4380DAA90243AB06C65-8016

1 Fault Found:
01811 - Supply Voltage for Door Controller; Drivers Side (J386)
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded

I have pulled the rubber boot back on the door hinge and cant see any broken wires, any ideas?

All other doors ok and passenger electric mirror working too.

Problem now solved, the red/yellow wire inside the hinge harness was broken in the middle of the harness i.e from body to door, just soldered it back together and put some heat shrink over the top and as good as new.

I am actually very disappointed that this has happened, the car is only 4.5 years old and you should not expect this of a car at this age, 15 years plus maybe.

Don't suppose they have done a recall on this as it does appear a common fault?

There is enough slack in the loom but, as with any metal, if you repeatedly bend it back and forth (like when the door opens/closes) it will work harden and break.

Had to do the exact same repair on an A3 that was sold at work. Seeing as I had all makes experience I got shoved the job. I found the wire had cracked in multiple places so had to cut a length out and repair.

My n/s rear is temperamental i'll check the wiring first :)

Common issue tbh, but it really is down to the loom being fitted correctly into the coroplast etc tape & allowing enough slack to flex about, had those looms in/out numerous times for mirror/dimming installs for clients.
