The drivers window / door is rattling when driving over rough roads. Started a couple of weeks ago....... anyone had this happen & any ideas on a fix?? Car is a Sept 2013 Avant Blk Ed.

Take the panel off and have a look ... can you tell were in the door the rattle is ??

I can't tell , does the panel just unclip & pull off?

You have to remove some of the door covers so you can get to the 5 screws holding this panel on but as this is a new car I would take this back to the dealer to sort out ....

Had troubles with my black ED for ages! Took it into audi 4 times they ripped everytjing on the doors apart! Spoke to audi HQ and they said its the door seals ( which i couldnt believe as it sounds like the windows rattle in position) the technician got a seal grease and applied it on both doors and no rattles over rough roads!! Was so relieved but 2 months later its come back as its washed away eventually so needs reapplying so glad my car is on finance as if i payed full whack for the car i would not be happy with this! F**kin audi! But thats your fault mate take it to audi ask for the seal grease it was like vaseline coloured.

Same happened with me Christian, I had rattling from my doors when the car was new and driving over rough surfaces but they knew what it were straight away, the door rubbers. Spray some of this round the door rubbers every few months. Holts Nylon and Rubber Spray Lubricant [RL2R] Lube | eBay
The rattling happens because of cleaning chemicals when you wash your car so if you spray some of this on, it will last a few months.

I got a slight rattle coming from the gear box when I'm in 2nd gear, anyone know how I can take it out and take a look inside?

Mines a 2013 too bought new april 13.

Have you had any other issues apart from the rattle? I'm visiting the dealer tomorrow morning & the tech is coming on a test drive with me. Thought I might try & sort myself tonight if it's easy enough to remove.

I've just watched a YouTube vid which shows how the panel comes off, looks too much of a faff tbh. Back to the dealer!

No mate that has been the only fault although it nearly made me want to hand the car back to be honest mate, just for the simple fact it was getting so annoying being fobbed off by audi in the end i got a bottle of champagne and a free servicing haha! I will try some of that holts spray when i get back to the uk in a month to see if that works, cheers audi_dynamik :)

Fortunately Audi are not the only manufacturer that suffer from creaky door seals. It's only inevitable when they start to get gunked up as time goes by. It's made worse if you accidently get polish/wax on them or use a silicone de-greaser on them.

The best stuff I have used over the years is Gummi Pflege:

No problem. It does sound silly that it is the door rubbers to be fair but give it a try it does work. Spray the rubber at the very top of the door.

Needs a new window seal Audi tell me. Being fitted tomorrow. I'll have a can of the Holts spray to hand in case it starts again. Strange as I've never had this on any other car, BMW, Merc & other Audis
