Hi all,

My 2001 S3 AMK has started to throw a wobbler...feeling some hesitation on boost and it will totally drop off before the turbo has fully kicked in to give absolutely no boost whatsoever and drives like a standard 1.8. This occurs in 3rd gear, can't remember the revs, sorry.

Had it on vagcom and shows 'Charge Pressure: Maximum Limit Exceeded'.

Take car back out and boost seems to be there in all gears again, so is very puzzling.

Something is intermittent it appears as it gives me boost up until 3rd gear and it's there that the problems begin.

possible N75 fault?

currently sat on my drive and had boost when I got home, on way to work in the morning I'm betting it will be lost again, frustrating.

Just ran vcds lite and showing:

Along with the 'Charge Pressure: Maximum Limit Exceeded' it also says:

P1555-35-10 intermittent
Readiness 0000 0000

17963/P1555/005461 - Ross-Tech Wiki

17963/P1555 - Boost Pressure Control: Upper Limit Exceeded
Possible Symptoms

Reduced power output
Limp mode

Possible Causes

Boost Pressure too High
Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected, blocked or leaking
Charger Pressure Control defective
VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck
Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective

Possible Solutions

Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)
Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control
Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

Its plausible its the N75... have seen them play up before... ideally you want to be logging boost and N75 duty but VCDS lite won't allow you past block 20... over boost can be due to iffy maps, iffy N75 pipes, sticky actuator/wastegate and of course an iffy N75... logging would help diagnose ut if you know someone with a 1.8t you could try swapping out the N75...

Cheers bud,

My garage have offered some live data logging so will need to get in touch with them I think, and maybe they could also try eliminating some of the possibilities.

Was just seeing if any of my symptoms seemed obvious to anybody, strange how it's intermittent

Hi, do you have a forge dv? I had the same error code (yes it could be many things) but mine was caused by the dv not being tightly screwed together.

Not that im aware of, i have noticed when boosting the noise is louder than i remember, similar to the noise on a video posted to youtube showing his dv being knackered, so wondering if its that
