I often get fair abuse for never posting any pictures and as Phil and I have been busy and with a trip to Bill's tomorrow for a few tweaks thought now would be a good time :)
Engine bay with wmi fitted, not show car but its functional...

It hadn't long stopped snowing but we're hardcore down here

The joys of relentless products :( Relentless down pipe would not mount to the turbo with the relentless mani on lol

Sorry for the crap pic but new hybrid turbo meet head and relentless mani ;)

And no point having a hybrid without IE Rods and AGU pistons :)

Very, very occasionally its clean,,although its so rare this is an old pic and the sharp eyes may notice that it now has different shoes

Some of the shiny bits now hidden away

As with everything I hadn't intended to get to the point of a hybrid ( all be it a baby ), wmi and forged engine etc it just kinda happened! Phil has a lot to blame for in this as he's been a massive help, has always been there to get me out the poo and encourage me to fit more shiny bits. This last couple of weeks has been a bit mental getting ready for a trip to B5- wmi, new dual mass as my clutch died, hybrid fitted and god knows what else lol
As far as I'm concerned though apart from a few bits of tidying up and general maintenance I'm finished with it now. Its got the right brakes, suspension, arbs, intake, outtake, cooling and go faster bits so I'm looking forward to enjoying it now :) Be nice to see what Bill can get from the old girl

Be very interesting to see what the new turbo spec can produce :)

What hybrid have you got mate? Good luck with this ill be keeping an eye on it. Give us a good write up when shes done. daz

Cheers lads, I have no idea how this will pan out! The hybrid is a baby one of Dans thats being tested for the first time, rs6 turbine wheel and a standard size but made from billet comp wheel with 12psi actuator and lots of porting. Even on actuator pressure it just wants to go, very fast and early spooling makes it alot of fun to drive. It might make only 300 but it might make a lot more but whatever it makes we'll find out soon as I'm just leaving for the trip now...

Awesome. Im sure it will be mental. Smile factor will be epic regardless of figures!!!

Am I right in understanding that you have an uprated turbine but stock sized compressor wheel. Hmm that sounds back to front. Good Luck, i'm sure Bill will get the most out of it regardless.

I think contrary to what Russ said it's a TFSI turbine wheel (or so Dan said last night when discussing it), with a stock sized comp wheel but made from billet alloy so it's lighter.

I guess the idea is to remove the flow restriction in the hot side and see what the compressor is really capable of.

Back to front depends where the stock restriction is...

It may well be that the stock compressor has more flow available, but is held back by the stock turbine...

That said, i'm puzzled why you wouldnt just stick a 2280 wheel into it ala K300 spec when its apart, given you know the K300 spec works so well...

Very interested to see what results you get. If you could post them up after that would be great. Oh and good luck!!

Cheers

not when you consider that the hinderence of the ko4 is its turbine.
Plus he said billet version of oem compressor. Bigger isnt always better, it might be a more efficient design.
And it might not be prone to surge like the common 2283 hybrids

If this has the TFSI flat back turbine like Dan said, then i don't think surge is an issue on these even with the 2283 any more, it seems Dan's hybrids are going from strength to strength lately, all thanks to Dan's constant testing of new and different setups, and peoples willingness to try new stuff, knowing full well Dan will sort them out if it doesn't work as expected.

Fingers crossed for a happy post later!

Very simply, cost.. No point in running a 2280 when I can run a 7+7 for the same cost.

the final version of the hybrid, will either run this wheel or the 11bladed version depending on which turns out better..

very simply I want to offer 3 turbos..

A bone stock k04, all be it better than OEM..because it has the improved turbine housing( there's a bold statement;-) )
The baby hybrid, 300-310bhp but without being highly strung like the stock running similar power and more torque.
The hybrid, all out 340bhp plus..

Stock turbo mapped is about 280bhp, hybrid is 340.. Sit this one in the middle ...

250bhp on actuator pressure, 300 with it plugged in and still on the old map. Not a bad starting point. Yup mr Miller has been very forgiving and patient with me lol

how is the 300 Russ? Safe with scope for more? or in need of taming?

Good to hear it's making the right numbers before you even start mapping! hopefully it's safe with some scope for more :D

dan will be very happy I'm sure.

Yup Dan is happy so far! Still not started mapping it yet as funnily enough my aem controller decided itwas going to die :( might be worth avoiding them...new devil's own switch fitted so just about to start properly. Yes I do have some time on my hands today!

So if all goes well will it be done today? And are you up tuere or did u drop the car off?

Cheers gents :) car will be finished today, has to be I'm a long way from home!

Don't know what your talking about tuffty :) num num num ;)

Oi!

No posting without more figures or updates, it brings false hope

make yourself useful, go and put the kettle on!

why didn't the downpipe fit with the mani?
any pics? :p

Downpipe wouldn't fit because the top of the dp flange hit the bottom of the mani, had to be trimmed lol anyway forget that just made some epic figures on the first run of new map but more tweaks to be made ,)
