Hello all,

I got some problems with my audi s3, its making a weird noise when accelerating and i also notice powerloss and bogging while its occuring. Here is a video where you can hear it: YouTube

I saw some videos on youtube regarding faulty diverter valves and i thought i may have a similiar problem but im not sure since im a noob:).

I did a vagcom read last weekend after I replaced some sensors and a boost pipe which had a leak and all motor related faults were gone..

Hopefully someone might have a clue what this problem could be.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to audi-sport.net. Im sure ine of the guys be along shortly to advise you. Have a read at the faqs thread at the top of this section, lots of useful info in there. Enjoy the forum. :)x

hum, mine was making a similar noise recently, started off faint and as time went by got worse and now has lost loads of power and all you can here now is it boosting its tits off. I think (as I haven't looked and am not driving it till I have had a look at it) that I have a broken intercooler, or a split pipe behind the bumper as everything in the engine bay is fine.

@s3clarke: That sounds very similar. I also feel like the problem is getting worse than before.. I had a leak silicon pipe from the metal pipe to the diverter valve together with a 17963 (boost pressure upper limit exceeded) fault and replaced it an thought that might caused the problem but it didnt make a difference.

I'm going to investigate mine tomorrow and see what I figure out, I will post up what I find.

@s3clarke: did you find anything suspicious?

I did a vagcom read last weekend and got some fault codes again: 2 Faults Found:
17963 - Charge Pressure: Maximum Limit Exceeded
P1555 - 35-00 - -
16487 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too High
P0103 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I tried cleaning my MAF some time ago and thought the error was gone but its not, going to place a new one this afternoon. Hopefully its runs better and maybe this is correlated to the pressure exceed fault to. I checked my n75 valve using a tutorial (
N75 wastegate actuator valve explained/symptoms. - AudiWorld Forums) and all seems ok. I did some searches on the net regarding the squeeking sound and found this video: 2011 subaru wrx wastegate flutter or boost leak - YouTube

Its sounds quite similar..

Well looks like the MAF was the issue after all:). Replaced it, cleared the faults and the car drives great. Never had a good reference cause I most likely bought it with these errors. The squeeking sound is gone and now it feels like the full 210hp's are there:).

CHEERS MATE, I HAVENT HAD A LOOK YET JUST BEEN WORKING FLAT OUT. I PLAN TO THIS WEEKEND AGAIN BUT I DOUBT IT HAHA
