DTM register / owners thread

i understand dude, the only reason i own a DTM is i did it the other way around :)

but you should make membership of this thread and a term of the sale :salute:

My DTM has developed an annoying clunk when turning right at low speeds like roundabouts when winding lock on to the right. Any opinions? Doesn't happen when manoeuvring slowly for parking etc. Just 2nd or 3rd gear speeds and it's a single clunk that can just about be felt through the steering wheel. Thoughts please.

Have any of you other DTM guys used one of these? :

http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/search?make=2&fueltype=3&model=22&variant=515

Says it's just plug and play. Is a bit steep for 23BHP tho :S

Were abouts are you based for a start?

Secondly personally I would not bother going with superchips not that I have anything against them there is just better out there. If you looking for a plug and play route rather look at Revo or APR.

Also I would not bother too much about the HP gain as its the torque figure that matters. Which superchips torque gain is not the best either considering they state 27nm which is nothing. For £400

A default generic stage 1 map you looking at least 30HP gain and 70-90nm(55-65lbft)

As example based on the 2 referenced chip suppliers above there is there "quoted figures"

Revo - 220hp => 255hp , 221lbft => 287lbft (300nm => 389nm) = £500
APR 95 octane - 220hp => 232hp , 221lbft => 273lbft = £598.80
APR 98 octane - 220hp => 241hp , 221lbft => 292lbft = £598.80

Even thou they are expensive you getting one of the best generic tuners maps on your vehicle.

My personal advice would be if you can afford to folk out the 400-500 anyway for a chip. Get a tuner to install a custom map for you car as then it can be suited to your needs.

But one thing I must stress is try make sure your car is running 105% before you decide to chip the vehicle. The experience with the chip is a lot more enjoyable and really makes the car come alive. But with that puts stress on other components so stuff like good and frequent oil changes, cam follower inspected and changed if necessary. And that your timing belt has been changed.

Otherwise once its chiped there is no going back :)

Hope the above helps

This has come up a few times. As mine has the same issue thou I get more than just a single clunk :(

I suspect your issue you having is very simliar in the above post. If not just read further into the post and you will see my long essay on what I have done and tried and what is suggested etc.

Enjoy

Thanks for that.

Front pads pads need replacing soon. Anybody have suggestions for good performance but minimum brake dust? Part numbers would help. Ta

If you want Audi to do the job it will be £139 fixed price for front pads inclusive of labour, vat and 1/2 year warranty.

Your other option could be something like EBC Redstuff or Yellow stuff

The redstuff produces the least dust of the 2 products but still offers great braking potential
Were as yellow stuff is more for the sprinted driving or track driving but can still be used on a road vehicle with no issues.

Redstuff fronts you looking at around £105.13 for the front set
Yellow Stuff you looking at around £112.63 again for the front.

Both prices are inclusive of vat but will require fitting.

Depends on your budget really and what you are after.

Hi Gents,

I purchased my DTM about 6 months back, needed a few minor things addressing but have been modding and getting what I can over the last few months,
spec so far... :-

green panel air filter
HPFP autotech
Forge actuator (modified to fit ko3 for a4)
forge dump valve
RS4 fuel pressure reg valve (put on but taken off until I get big turbo as fuel pressure was too high on fuel rail)
RS4 thrust sensor
FMIC full kit (ebay order from America)
decat pipe (from America)
full stainless exhaust (custom made to match milltek specs)

H&R 45mm lowering springs.
H&R anti roll bars front and rear.
Forge full big brake kit.
southbend stage 2 clutch and single mass flywheel
19'' CADES BERN wheels with toyo proxes T1R tyres
15mm rear and 12mm front wheel spacers

JBS fitted the clutch and sent the actuator away for modding to forge and remapped it for me.
Excellent service from them and very experienced with VAGS..

Just ordered this week and need fitting, front snub mount, full set of poly suspension bushes, rear braided lines, front ultra racing strut brace and decided to go over to the dark side and ordered the AP coilovers...

Mods to come are larger turbo ( Olethalb ) am thinking of pinching yours, S3 injectors, bigger in tank fuel pump, plugs etc.
Will run and see what I can get on standard internals then maybe think about pistons, conrods, head work etc..

got a few bits to do tomorrow, couple of codes to sort and a new N75 to fit but hope i get time to fit the wheels :)

as Gio mentioned on my thread, i'm interested in looking at the possibility of getting a plate made similar to the golf anniversary to fit to the car and be numbered based on date of production / registration

Thanx mate, are they rotiform wheels? My mate had a set made fgor his TTRS and was slammed and looked awesome.
Im trying to get mine complete before the end of the year aswell. Just had my poly bushes, snub mount and braided lines turn up this week, still waiting on my strut brace and coilovers.. I have the H&R springs but love the look of yours and want mine lower so went for the AP's aswell as they look like a decent set.

Im still up for your grabbing your turbo if its still available, ive just ordered them bits and in the middle of buying another house so a little short each month but will hopefully get the cash asap. It should be more than enough for the increase I need as I have my weekend cars so don't want to go too mad.. pictures attached...148691 10150335105200223 5137896 nP 1

The Porsche I use regularly and the Ultima is in storage at the moment as the weather is crap..
Hope you like..

Thanks for the response GIOSA. Current pads not finished so will ponder as the car will be getting sold next year, unfortunately. Not even hit 60k yet....

Thinking the oil on the K&N may have screwed it and filter been there 3 years. Anybody had experience with ITG or other dry filters? Any part numbers useful as always.

How easy is to replace the potential leaky or cracked valve if that's the culprit as opposed to the air filter causing the drop in power I mentioned before.

Also is there a paint code for the textured black on the rear diffuser or is it just a typical halfrauds effort?

Ta

Any one knows that car. 135000mile is it not to scary millage?

Hi GuysNew member here and i joined specifically for this thread. I have had my DTM for just over a year now and absolutely love it!I have no mods on it yet but was looking to get some advice from you guys first. the mileage is currently around 85,000 - would it be ok to start modding this car now? Is there anything i should check out on the car before i start? its had a full audi service history and cambelt changed at 76,000.I really want to mod it bit by bit and increase it to 300+ bhp. but looking to start off with a stage 1 remap and a CAI + dump valve (mainly for the noise :) )I havent figured out how to upload pics yet but the cars in sprint blue!Would be good to do a meet with the DTM owners on here.Cheers

ahhh, the DTM thread.now that i have you, tell me this.my car developed a very annoying and loud screech/Squeak/Noise/whisteling . it takes a while to develop. after the engine has warmed up a bit it starts. but only what idling, under load it disappears. First i thought, Compressor pulley ...........nopeThen i thought, Alternator pulley and or the little clutch on the front of it :notme:...........nope (it cost me 200 yo yo's to find that out)Then i cried a bit :sadlike:then i sought a second professionals opinion, he said, Timing Belt Tensioner ... (was going to cost 400 yo yo's)but i did not believe him so i got a third opinion.mechanic number 3 cracked it.it turns out to be (probably) the PCV valve. he said" Try to take off the oil cap WHILE the engine is running. If it is hard to take off, and it feels as if there is suction. PCV" DIY: PCV Valve, Breather Tube, & Gasket Replacementso mechanic number 1 (me) firedmechanic number 2 can only have car for simple stuffmechanic number 3 is my new best friend.anybody else have issues with the PCV valve?
hi mate, i had the same issue last year. does your car rev up by itself to round x1000 - x2000 revs when idle as well? i got a new pcv valve from audi, only around 30 quid and was able to replace the old 1 in half an hour.

glad to see the thread is still alive with new members posting :)

DTM 88N - i'd check your cam follower and revision of DV but other than that i can't see any issue going 300+ on your motor

for all those on k03 turbos (the majority) i strongly suggest you get in contact with Dan at Beach Buggy Turbos and talk to him about his new bolt on k03 hybrid that with supporting mods and decent mapping can crack the 300bhp barrier.

he is on this forum as well as facebook, just say i sent you to him - I'm sure he'll sort you out with everything you need to know.

Anybody fitted cruise control to their DTM and kept the original Alcantara steering wheel (which has no buttons etc)? What was needed.. extra wires, Modules, etc?

Yes you can keep the Alcantara steering wheel. As the cruise control is a stalk and has nothing really to do with the steering wheel.

You just need a lower cowl or cut yours the cruise control stalk and someone with a VCDS to install/programme it for you.

Use this for as a guide - http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s...191791-cruise-control-installation-guide.html

Ah man, I want a DTM now. If anyone's selling at the end of the year, gimme a shout please

Mine will most likely be up for sale end of the year as I will hopefully be getting my S3 saloon

Same here, about to get REVO'd but will be up for grabs at some point in the year. I'll advertise here first.

Hi, I have owned my DTM since October 13...Love it so far.

Yeah Thx mate, no mods as yet...Although I have been looking into an exhaust upgrade, but the only one I can find is the Miltek system. I have heard what it sounds like...and to be honest it is a bit ****. I am thinking I will get a custom one made for it with two twin pipes..

Need to put induction kit on it, re-map & maybe a dump valve

Hi (A4Chad) the price sounds about right, the main thing which is common is the Coil packs on these. Also, find out when the timing belts were changed, if at all.

The coil packs were offered free from audi under a recall. So if yours wasnt done or if you want to check just ring audi with the vin number and they will share the info with you.

i've listed my 3" decat and milltek downpipe on ebay, i'm not looking for as much as it's advertised for but due to ebay / paypal fees it's bumped the price up.

contact me direct for better deal :)

Well thanks to those on here who recommended changing my DV for the newer type. It's like a new car, I must have been down 100PS by the difference in acceleration and torque. To be fair a diesel Tiguan was able to out accelerate me off the lights. Got car Terracleaned straight after so all sweet now. Vroom.......

Hedski where did you get your DV from? Think i should change mine if its making that big of a difference. Cheers

Ebay. There's a seller on there who sells the genuine article and has several left.

My clunk turns out to be an engine mount leaking and another perished. Where's best to get them as Audi want a total of over £300 for them........
