Work starts on another mini round of upgrades Tuesday :)

FZQ, slightly later ratios with fractionally longer second.

Sligthly less cryptic plot. 6th hasn't plotted correctly here, but its all I've got whilst posting from my phone.

Thabks to Robin for sending me the spreadsheet :)

On the way home from Combe last week we saw Nick Williams from NWVT photography on the a34 heading home, he just sent me. Few pics this morning :)

I.ve just read your whole thread, superb work . I have a S2Lotus Elise with a 1.8 20v AGU engine in, I have been looking for a bigger turbo and hoping to sqeeze around 320-350bhp out of it (the car is currently 274bhp on a custom map with S3 injectors and turbo set up) I am very interested in the tfsi turbo set up, what is the turbo from that you have used & model number? would my current set up be ok with this turbo? (3" d/p 3" 200 cell sports cat & exhaust system 3" inlet & maf, bam injectors & manifold, custom mapped)

That S4

Must be a good man with a camera to get photos like that while driving, Looking good!

His A3's on air isn't it?

any links to this build daz? easy to get that sort of power. nice on an elise aswell due to the engine being the other ay round and the turbos easy to get to off the back

Unfortunately I did'nt do a build diary, but I have loads of pictures, here's a teaser for you.IMAG0616

There's a couple of S1 Exiges knocking about with this conversion, it's a bit more of a squeeze to do on the S1 Elise/Exige as the engine compartment is a fair bit smaller.
Sorry for hijacking your thread Prawn, if I get a bit of spare time later this week then I'll start my own thread up showing my build as it progressed into what it is now ;)

I don't know that, thanks. I prefer the look of the S1 but S2s still look smart.

Sorry for the hijack to prawn.

Daz, please do a progress thread id love to see what sort of effort needs to be put into an Elise build

No worries about the Hi-Jack :) that Lotus looks incredible!

I once had the pleasure of a lap round the ring an a BAM engined S1 Elise, totally stock 225 map, but my god it was quick, seriously enjoyable!

Dazz: the TFSI could be a great setup for you, but it wouldn't use any of your existing manifold, lines, or DP sadly, so would mean a re-work on that front.

A ko4 hybrid could get the power figures you're after, but I'm not sure something so instantly responsive and potentially aggressive would be suited to something like an Exige....

Pretty bad-*** isn't it

I am shattered! Had a rather flat out couple of evenings up at the CN Tuning workshop with Clive.

Hard work, a little frustrating at times, and I have reignited my passionate hate for CV grease.

More on that later!

However, I did cruise home in 6th gear, which was very novel indeed....... :racer:

Are the 6-speed boxes considerably meatier than the 5-speed?

Would quite like to go the other way with the Leon at some point (in the very, very distant future) and save my arm 17% of the trips fore-aft :p

The six speed box is supposed to be more strong. Guys have been running 400/500 brake with little or no drive shaft problems, or gearbox probs. That would suit us big time since we are on the ninth gearbox and lord knows how many drive shafts in about two and a half years. Also as you can see from the graphs the ratio's are far better. Third is now going to be EVIL.

Yeh the first few times you own a car with 6 speed, it does feel different and going back to a 5 speed feels odd like the mrs's fiesta.

Sums it up nicely Karl yea, tri-roller isn't up to the abuse. Fine for 90% of people in 90% of situations it seems, but not for me.

Mark: I'd say there are more big turbo'd leons and 6 speed cars out there than there are 5 speeds, and to be honest, the 6 speed box was a late 90's creation, compared to the 5 speed being largely unchanged from the 80's, it's just older tech.

the 6 speed has bigger CV's, of a stronger type, and the ratios suit me better, so it just made sense to go down this route now before we destroyed another perfectly good 02J box.

I'm certainly enjoying the new setup so far, it feels lovely to change gear, and the ratios seem pretty good, 2nd is fairly short, but 3rd is much more useful than before picking up from a lower speed, with 4th on the new setup mirroring my old 3rd. All in all, I'm very happy with it.

How's the k04 feeling now you've had it a while prawn?

Really well so far thanks Gops :) I have over 2000 miles on the setup now and it's feeling fantastic! No issues so far, 1 track day, 1 sprint day and a few thousand miles hard road use.

Next Tuesday we're driving it to Spa Franchorchamps in Belgium for a trackday on the Wednesday, then driving back for ADI on the Saturday, so it should be a good test!

Prawn there is only one more step to take my dear friend, and that is to bite the bullet and just fit the transfer box, prop and haldex, we all know you wanna join us :p

Nah its too much fun sliding around with power going to the rear than understeering towards the barrier.

OK,

I've been putting this off for about 4 months, and I've now put it off today until 11:46.

It's plywood time.

Wish me luck.

how about that sqs gearset upgrade? seems cheaper than a 02m upgrade

Good luck. Dont make it too big lol. Other wise it will be useless on the road.
