Whilst searching for xenon headlights on ebay I see that there are replica headlights - link

Anyone know the quality of these and if they match the Audi manufactured parts?

Obviously I would prefer original, but finding them hard to source and at £350 a pair the replicas are tempting.

I can't see anything in the description to suggest these are replicas. That said, I miss a lot these days.

You are right - doesn't say OEM or replica.

I must of been looking at a few listings and just assumed!

By the way, Stringster, where in Kent are you, the leafy garden bit or the grotty London bit?

Dam sight cheaper than the Audi units which are around £400-500 each. It's hard to say what the quality is like, the usual saying is buy cheap buy twice, but with Audi markup on parts that is not always true!

Indeed, and it is possible these are OEM. Don't forget, Audi don't make headlights. Someone else makes the lights for them, albeit I can't remember who. Is it Hella?

Take Audi out of the equation and there's no reason why these can't be genuine at that price.

Well the seller feedback looks good so I will think it over tonight...

JDP - I'm in Folkestone - at the edge of the green leafy bit near the sea!

These lights are copies.
Seller said "TYC copy - very good quality"

After a quick search some forums say the beam pattern and quality can be an issue.

So will continue to look for originals.

Fair dos. It was worth doing the research.

Nice.

I did a bi xenon projector retro fit last week to a local customers BMW and it turned out awesome, was shocked how good it was actually.

you guys will be glad to know that I have some projector kits coming into stock, only 4 which are all sold/jobs booked in for this service by myself.

2 of the 4 cars are B7's. one Avant and 1 cab.

once they are in I will get pictures of the end results for you and if you wanted to order them I can supply, and fit if required but lamps would need to be sent to me.

The projector kits sound a really good solution!

Can you give an approximate cost Trups?

Assume the basics is to add and align projector lens, then a HID kit can be used?

Looked at these before on US forums and noted the amount of work and skill needed to align the lens.

The kits I will sell for roughly £60 a pair and you would need to choose your shrouds (surrounds) which will be included in that price.

you would then need a canbus H1 HID kit. I can supply this if required also.

once these kits are in I will get them both fitted and you can see the pictures, on 1 of them the whole lamp is going to be blacked out, they other will stay chrome.

As long as the inside of the headlight is not damaged you wont have to do much work on changing the beam, just lower it down slightly.

Thanks.

if I can get some more interest once I have put pictures up then I can set up a GB and will be able to get sets in asap.

I don't want to add any into this order as its already delayed as I need to get the B7 and 8p3 number plate lights here so once they are in I will order.

Also my plan with the avant one is to black out the full beam reflector and have the bulb in there so in the day time when you flash oncoming cars can see the flash, at night time the morimoto H1 kit will be bi xenon so the projector will raise this to allow full beam :)

have a look here - so easy to do. - Audi A4 B7 Mini H1 Bi xenon projector headlight retrofit full tutorial - YouTube

my tip would be to remove all small clips and rubbers before baking as when doing this after you are wasting time while its cooling.

And guess what, making the home made oven box does work, just buy some gloves as the lamp gets hot, i learned this when picking the lamp out after only a 5 min bake.

Cant wait to see the pics Trups, i can see a lit of interest for a group buy coming up

I was actually looking at this clip on you tube yesterday, and thought how good it looked, t8ups, sign me up for a set. Got a spare set of headlights i was going to split to de-tango anyway might as well do both mods at the same time.

Guys,

in the video he makes it look as tho its just a plug and play, its not.

if you skip to 2.27 you can see the shroud is upside down, look carefully and it has been trimmed down to sit in nicely into the headlight, this is easy to do, just need a file. I had to trim the ones of the BMW E46.

With any retro there is always some work involved so don't be put off by this.

once I have some pictures of the 2 B7's I will be carrying this out on we can sort out who needs what so by that I mean, if you just want the projectors and shrouds with a hid kit or if you have a hid kit I would just need to supply new H1 HID bulbs but we can sort all after.

I will try get some pictures up of this e46 now.

let my delivery come in next week, as soon as it lands I will put some info up for you guys and I can get an order going, I can try and them delivered to you all by the end of this month.

just look around and find out what setup you want, so it will be the morimoto H1 projector kit, will you need a hid kit or H1 hid bulbs with them? work all that out and post up and I will get it sorted, like I said the kits are £60 and I will cover the postage costs which will be about £6.

Thanks

Is this just for the A4 B7's for the time being? I've got a mate with an A3 8P who is interested in retrofitting projectors in his headlight units.

if he wants some for his 8P then feel free to join in. I cant supply the HID's for it tho due to the known wiper motor issue on the A3's.

Great stuff Trups!

If I understand correctly, to retrofit into halogen lights I would need:

Bi Xenon H1 kit
Iris shrouds
5k HID kit

Hi Guys.

Right I have spoke to my supplier this morning in regards to doing a order on these.

I can do the following for ASN members, no min number of members, if I get 1 or 10 people price will be the same.

I can do the RHD morimoto h1 projector kit with iris shrouds for £60
H1 HID canbus slim FAST start kit for £60
as part of the deal for a limited time, let say end of NOV I will give you some new light sealant and free postage as part of this which is worth just under £20 combined with postage to the UK.

you would need to strip out the old sealant to put the new one in, 1 roll will do a pair of B7 headlamps with leftovers.

I still haven't had my delivery of the ones I ordered 2 weeks ago so am still waiting but if you want to get involved in this then let me know and I can try get this organised so I can get these in asap.

if you want a different type of shroud then let me know as I will be ordering 8 pairs of iris with the 1st batch.

Could you fit these aswell as supply. I dont fancy taking the lighhts apart. What other shrouds are available?

Count me in Trups!

Let me know as soon as you want payment/delivery details and I'll PM.

Many thanks - it is a great deal and exactly what I was looking for.

I can fit but only on the basis you remove the headlights and send them to me, you would also need to cover the return postage, should not be no more than £15 each way.

We have choose iris shrouds as they look OEM but if you want others then go on google and look for morimoto projector shrouds and you choose which you like.

put me down for a full set please trups,

let me know when you want payment, think i still got your paypal details from last time unless they changed.

cheers luke

if we can get 5 people then i will get this order fast tracked and could have this here by the 20th. This is a great little retro fit, as we all know, doing the smaller things to your car your self makes a big differance.

I have a polo TDI daily and i want to do this retro fit to that so im getting excited myself as i want a good setup for the winter.

Also while you guys have the headlights open you might aswell de tango and add in chrome amber indicator bulbs.

Also i spent a few hours reading this and i think their work is amazing so just some ideas for you if you - LIGHTMODZ Automotive Lighting Modifications, HID Projector Retrofits, Vinyl Wrapping, Clear Bra / PPF, Window Tinting, Auto Detailing, Retail Sales, Angel Eyes, LED's, Custom Painting, Wiring Harnesses, Headlight Restoration

so far we have confirmed.

2. Lukey Baby
3. Rastamouse

Once fitted do the lights align as normal or is there a special alignment procedure?

you would need to use the manual adjusters on the headlight to bring them down, you can take it to your local MOT station who will adjust these for you to get the best alignment out of them.
