Strangest problem - Advice needed please!

Hi Guys,

So I have a 06 plate A3 Sportback. Around 12-18 months ago, I changed my rear lights to the LED style ones. All coded, and been working fine, until the other day...

I noticed that the left outer light unit wasnt working at all. I thought this was strange. Opened it up, checked the wiring etc and put it all back together. Checked it again, but now, the indicator on the left doesnt work, and neither does the LED strip on the outer right!

I have a Indicator warning light come up on the DIS, so changed that, but message is still there, and same lights dont work!

Has anyone has these issues before, and would anyone know what to start to fix this?!

Have you tried your original lights? Had a flat battery recently. Maybe needs re coding I'm only guessing here though.

maybe water got into the adaptors?

As above, but 1st did you use adapters to fit them?

If so then this has been known to get water ingress which is 1 reason why I don't fit them with adapters.

Yep, I used adapters to connect them all up. Had a look at them and theyve coloured so looks like they have started to corrode.

You think it would be a good idea to just strip out the connectors and connect the wires directly to the lights?

As you know, I wire them in as per factory with interconnecting wires inner to outer, not had 1 complaint to date

Whereas adapters always end up with water issues on these installs.
