Hi guys, I was wondering if I can fit a gearbox from a aum engined car onto my agu? Is there any differences between the two box? Like different fittings etc?

thanks simon

It's essentially the same mate, but depending on the year of your agu a few bits may need swapping over.

Early agu boxes will have an 02A style shift tower and 100mm drive flanges, where later ones will have a true 02J shift tower and 108mm flanges same as AUM.

worst case you can swap these bits back onto the aum box if needs be, or modernise your car a touch by adding the further parts required to use the better aum shift tower.

Not A good way to start a thread dude whats up eith your gearbox mate ?

Ok cheers prawn, mine is a 98 r reg so take it that it will be an early agu.

Grant, been told that the diff is knackered and bearings are gone and that's causing the left hand pull.

Anyone else get a noise like ping pong balls rattling in the gearbox? As soon as I press the clutch pedal down it goes away?

Guys am I right in thinking the gearbox code for my car can be found on the sticker in the spare wheel holder too the right of the engine code?

I have the letters DBZ would this be my gearbox code as I need to replace my gearbox?

Guys my gearbox code is DBZ would a ENJ fit straight on or would I need to change anything? If I bought it, it would be coming off another agu.

thanks simon

Are you sure it's the gearbox I'm no expert but sounds more like dmf or clutch if the noise stops when you press the clutch pedal down

The noise I can hear isn't why I need a new gearbox, and I don't have a dmf I had a smf and new clutch fitted in march,

Can someone clear up so info for me as I've read a few different things now, on my car I have DBZ gearbox code, and I've bought a ENJ code box, now I've read that they both have the same flange size of 108mm, is this right? As I've also read that my DBZ has 100mm flanges?
