Scott told me to pop by and say hello. Both he and I have been members of the Audi Owners Club for a while and know each other through there. I have a 98 (pf) Audi A4 B5 1.8t. Unfortunately she isn't the TQS model but I love it all the same. Had the car for coming up to a year now and so far can't fault it. Yes, I have had the odd problems but you expect this with older cars. I didn't think I'd ever modify a car again but I was sooo wrong. Anyway, a few pictures of the car. Day 1 and then as she stands now:

As she originally started out:

Hope you like it. ;-)

Some more changes lined up and off for some bodywork this weekend. May post some more pics if you'd like to see them as I make the changes to the car.

I know. Definitely on the list of to-dos. Looking to do something a few would class as wrong but others would think ingenious in the way of wheels. But I don't know if I should let that one slip or show for opinions. ;-)

Prey-tell... always open to new ideas :D

Lol. I'll let it out then. ;-) I've been trying to come up with something new. Something I haven't seen or would like to see myself. I've always had a soft spot for Ford ST wheels. The TT is the only Audi I have managed to find with them on. Thoughts please:

And with a little photoshop edit:

Now the question is do I go for polished or look to darken the colour?

Theres a similar wheel used on the A5 i think?

They could look good, but what will you do about fitment? They're 5x108, the audi is 5x112, which i think is a bit much for wobble bolts... Also the Audi uses M14 bolts, whereas the ford uses M12, which gives you even less room to play with.

Unless you use some sort of PCD adaptor? Looking around they're typically 20mm thick, which drops the wheels from ET47 to ET27, which i suspect will hang out the arches a bit and look somewhat silly...

If you could find some 15mm adaptors you might get away with it.

I had a look into the ET of the wheels and all the information I have found states either 52.5 or 53. If I end up running a 20mm adapter all round it would reduce it to Et 32.5/33. I've seen a few B5's with ET 35's so I'm hoping I'll be ok in that respect.

I've had a look into the wobble bolts too, and I'm pretty confident 5 x 108's can be fitted with them.

I wonder is there anyone on the forum that may know more on this or do you think with the figures above it can be made to work?

I'm running ET35 (I think but I keep getting confused) and I don't have any issues.
I'm even looking at spacers. 5mm front and 10mm rear.

You can get 5x108 to 5x112 but not the other way round.....odd.

H&R to a Audi to 5x108 adaptor.

Birch: Ah you should be ok then, i had a quick look and came across ET47.

Theres no way wobble bolts will work, unless you drill out the bolt holes in the alloy, which is somewhat shonky...

The PCD difference means the bolts need to sit 2mm further outboard and the fact that the Audi bolts are 2mm fatter means you'd need a 17-18mm hole in the alloy.

I read up somewhere that BBS do a set of suitable wobble bolts. Either way I'm not going to require them if I use adapters and that is the preferred. I am correct in saying that aren't I? Want to make sure. lol

Hopefully getting a few little bits of bodywork painted up this weekend too.

Just a thought, polished lip? Still open to ideas on this front if anyone has any thoughts.

Yeh, if you use adaptors your sorted.

Polished lips are a bad idea.

I dislike any chrome though, i'd be going dark grey/gunmetally type color.

Your car looks really clean. Not to keen on the ST wheels on anything, look a bit modern for the B5 I think. I will be interested in how they look however.

Seen a few ST's with the RS wheels on and they looked much better.

Thanks for the comment on its' cleanliness. I detail myself and it does get pretty well looked after. Gutted it gets used daily as it'd be cleaner but we can't have it all. Rest assured, it is set to go on a few stands this year and she'll be looking pretty for that.

Have you got a link to an ST with RS wheels on? I take it you mean Audi RS not Ford?

I will post a few pictures when they are on. It will be a few weeks yet though. Decat to fit alongwith facelift fogs, bodywork to be painted, cv's to sort and a few other little bits to tidy her up before UD.

Still not 100% sure on colour for the wheels though so further input would be appreciated.

No sorry I meant Focus ST with RS wheels fitted. Not a fan the RS wheels on the RS as not aggressive enough but looked great on the more plain ST.

BBS lm reps or S4 B6 alloys IMHO

Quite like the rota grid alloys too !!

I feel BBS LM Reps are far too common and I've seen many B5 with S4B6 alloys. IMHO Rota grids work well on BMW's, Scoobies and Golfs. Not a fan of them on Audis.

I'm pretty set on the ST wheels. Lambo and X5 wheels are similar in design and I've always had a soft spot for the ST rims.

Nice looking car but not persuaded. lol.

Kind of gutted today. Car was booked in to have some bodywork tidied up this weekend but just seen the weather. Not good, snow again........

May try and get the new fog lights fitted this weekend instead. ;-)

Nice looking B5 mate, clean as!

Wobble bolts wont work for you, only get 2mm max in the wobbles, i have similar idea with different wheels but mines are stepping up to 5x114, yours will need some type of adapter but plenty out there, should get one that fits.

If you cant find anything you need in UK for unusual or custom stuff for the Audi, have a look in the Fatherland as i have found some trick bits for mine there when at a blank here.

Need more pics of mods, B5 section still looks quiet on that front!!!

It's been a while since I've popped by the forum. Thought I'd post a bit of an update.

Since my last post I've done a fair few bits to the B5. I was going to swap the wheels for a set of 18" Focus ST alloys but I decided against this.

I have done the following though:

In Car Entertainment - Replaced my cheap and cheerful Sony GT25 head unit for a Alpine 9857r. Installed Sub & Amp (JL 12" W0 and In Phase Amp). I've also wired up the car to run a second (4ch) amp and changed the speakers in the front for a set of Infinity components. At the minute though I'm just running the front speakers off a 2ch amp and the rear from the head unit I find a nice 4ch amp to replace this.

Exterior - Fitted facelift fog lights. Added 10mm spacers to the front and 8mm spacers to the rear. Cleaned and painted the calipers, hangers and also the disc centres. Replaced the tyres for a better size (235 45's to 225 45's) and have also had the front bumper re-sprayed.

Mechanical - Replaced rocker cover gasket. Fixed boost leak from crank case breather (plastic housing had split).

Tomorrow she goes back for more paint. This time the rear bumper as there are a few scuffs and scratches on it. Anyway, a few pics as she stands:

Before fitting spacers-

With 10mm spacers-

Damage-

After paint-

Braking system all painted-

Bought the good lady a car and a pic of how my B5 looks atm-

I'm now on the hunt for a nice set of coilies so if anyone stumbles on a set please let me know.

calipers look good in silver looks very original, alloys look better with spacers up front think the backs could do with either 10 or 15mm look a bit to far in the arch TBH, as aragorn said its just crying out for some facelift headlights !!

looks well tho and not a common colour you see on a B5 :)

Facelift headlights have literally just been paid for. Should be with me tomorrow and fitted this weekend. I'm holding fire on the spacers too. I realise they need further spacing out but I'm looking to put her on coilies very soon and know that when it is lower they will sit different. Think I will end up with 10's on the rear and 15's on the front. Did a test fit and it looked sweet.

Has anyone got a link to a guide on fitting the facelift lights? Guessing it isn't just a straight plug in and away you go.....

Picture from this weekends Wonderland Festival.

And my shiny ****!!

Just dropped the grill off for paint. Having the silver outer ring painted to match the colour of the car. Silver badge will then be back on. :)
