I'm changing my rear view mirror to an Audi TTS version.

I've just realized the front window screen mounts are different and I need to change it in order to fit this rear mirror

..but I'm having trouble getting the old one out ...it's probably been there since factory ...

Can anybody advise on how I would get this mount off my front window screen ?

My guess is it can't be taken and if you use force you'll crack the windscreen

Forget the mount mate, I'd be more worried about that UFO hovering outside your yard.

When I worked for Autoglass we used to heat the disc up with a mini blowtorch then twist it off with a pair of grips. You'll also need to have the correct glass adhesive to re-attach it to the new glass which is a headache with a fitted windscreen as you have hold the disc in the correct position till it sets enough to hold it.... Which is about 4-5 minutes!

Whatever you do, don't use superglue. The heat generated from the chemical reaction will crack your windscreen.

Do you know if Auto-glass do this when installing a new front window ?

I might just get a new front window and let them deal with it.
