Seen the Chris Harris S4 Video - see.want.buy - pre or facelift? Differences?

Hi all,

So i've seen the Chris Harris video comparing a remapped B8 S4 with the RS4. I must say it has me intrigued.

Could someone please point out what the differences are between the pre and post facelift cars? I've seen some aesthetic changes with the lights and interior (including steering wheel).

What else is there? Is a facelift worth the extra 10k over say a £25k 2009 pre-facelift from Audi.

Also, couldn't find any particular spec listed on the Audi used car site for things like the sports diff (assume torsen type in the back?).. what are the spec differences?

edit: just had a chat with my local dealer and apparently there aren't that many facelifts on the market (used).. so I guess my main objective with this thread is to understand the spec differences on the pre-facelift to try and come up with an 'ultimate' spec car!

Spec can vary massively, taking a 38k car to 50k plus at purchase...
Everyone has their own take and likely depends upon use and interests, besides the cosmetic options of colour and whether black or chrome trim.

Having driven a few my recommended boxes to tick :

Super Sports Seats
Heated front seats
Folding / dimming mirrors
3G Nav Hi
Sports diff
Adaptable suspension
MRC Stage 2 upgrade

Other niceties

19" rims
DAB
Keyless entry & go
 
As above seems a good list, I would add dynamic steering and carbon inlays look nice. It too me a long time to find a good spec manual S4, I had to compromise on the Nav, but i got most of the above.

Almost forgot, B&O sound is a must.

There was a change between my09 and my10, which had a few differences then very little till the face lift.
One easy way is on the 09 cars the n/s front foglight is an open grill on 10 cars its blanked.
Dsg 10 cars also got launch control.
09 cars had mmi low/high with dvd nav 10 cars had hdd nav.
basically it was launch till late 2009 then 2010 till 2012.
The facelift cars have regen breaking better mpg lower emissions etc.
 
No mention there on recouperation for the 3.0tfsi.
i was sure it wasnt till the facelift when most engine ancillaries were fitted with clutches etc.

I was told it'll be detailed soon as a project...good luck and hats off to anyone mad enough to clean that kennel car :yes:
 
It seems S4 Avant from CH's video (also featured in 5th Gear early 2009 review) is now owned by a bloke in Edinburgh and I see it often in the office car park...

Regarding differences, biggest change pre-fl vs fl is navigation/mmi system with addition of Google Maps and Internet access which I think is super cool. Whether it is worth extra money? I dont know....
