Hi All, my S3 is coming up for oil service, my question is do you all get it done at your local Audi dealer or just take it somewhere else as its just oil & filter change? I have to dealers local to me Portsmouth & Southampton (Harwood, dealers). Thanks

I don't think it actually voids your warranty if Audi don't do it (sure I saw that on 5th gear a couple of weeks back) I'd get it done else where. Audi quoted me £330 for oil and filter. Got it done at my local garage £130 with Gen filter and longlife 3 oil.

Yea do it yourself. I did mine last week, really easy. Just make sure you have a 36mm socket for the oil filter housing. You may need a new sump bolt/washer as they are really soft. For oil, filter and nut it was well under £50 and only takes an hour or so to do. Everyone on here recommends an oil change every 6k miles on the 2.0TFSI anyway, so worth working out how to do it yourself.

Don't even know where the oil filter is yet, let alone where to drain from, lol

Cheers Honeybear, just looked at this for my S3 & comes out the same price! Happy days

If it was in the warranty period id of had it done at audi, and after that a specialist

_Zerocool_ is 100% correct.

All you have to do is use genuine audi parts. Your grandma can do the work, it wont affect the warranty.

I stayed clear of Audi for a number of reasons,

A- i dont want my car test driven, IE taken for a joyride. (which they always do as its general policy)

B- i dont want it washed (they will wash it, even with a thick marker pen written across the job card say DONT)

C- its a modified car, i'd rather Audi didnt know, and in the event of catastrophic engine failure or the like, nothing can be said when it rocks up to the dealership completely standard and them none the wiser...

I know id rather stand under the ramp with a friend doing it and watch, than to sit at home biting my nails thinking, jesus, I bet they've cocked something up.

£67 with genuine parts

Sorry I didn't realise you could do it yourself and it wouldn't effect warranty. Learn something new and all that eh?

I did mine last night just trying to figure out how to reset the service light!
