There was a discussion about this a couple of weeks ago and I've always wanted to do it. My mate has a TT and changed his standard system for a blue-flame so had his standard one lying around and he said if it fits without major modification then I can have it. I do want oval pipes as the circle ones don't fill the cut out properly so I will eventually buy an uprated TT or R32 system then modify the tips, but as I'm broke and this was free, this will do for now.

So this was what my bank holiday consisted off.

I don't have a picture of the comparison between the TT and S3 exhaust but they are pretty much the same but has one less mount and as the TT has a slightly shorter wheelbase, the exhaust was about 4 inches shorter.

So I cut 4 inches off the end of mine and welded in on the end the TT's

Then did a trial fit and started it up to check for leaks, there wasn't any :rockwoot:

I then started to attack the bumper, I first made a template out of cardboard.

Then I measured about a million times where the original cut out for the exhaust was and replicated that on the other side and drew round the template.

Next was the scary bit, attacking the bumper. There's probably better tools to use but I just used an angle grinder and a steady hand, I did keep thinking that it would suddenly bite and I'd cut my bumper in half but fortunately it didn't :D Also had to cut away the metal behind the bumper.
It needs a little tidying up with a bit of sand paper. (which has now been done)

Time to fit the thing now.

Couldn't find my drivers side mount n spend most of the day looking for it but to no avail, so I just made one out of a piece of steel, a long bolt and an exhaust rubber off my dead Alfa.

The finished product....for now!

I know it's probably not everyones cup of tea but a lot of things that people do on here doesn't please everyone as we all have our own taste, but I'm really happy with how it's turned out and can't wait to get oval tips.

Well done mate, Ive been toying with doing this for a little while now as the cars off the road,
I've got two ovals sitting on the bench in my workshop....
I need a after market back box and my mate to make me some small stainless surrounds for the bumper to hide the cutting and also have the same curve as the tips.
I want to do it on another bumper tho to make sure I'm happy with it before I go chopping up the one on the car.......
I will deff be using one of the tips tho either way if I don't use them on a tt box

Not my thing, but I'll reserve judgement until you have the oval pipes on. I remember a guy who parked up with us with double twin exhaust on our GTI Inters stand last year. Only other car I remember with this setup is the QST RS4 Engine'd S3.

Dont go too large on the oval tips. Nice and proportional to the car and youl pull it off and it will look sweet.

Good work tho. Looks very neat and i guess its relatively simple for people to do. You trend setter you!

I love that, i think ill wait until you have the larger tips fitted and may have to follow lol.

Well done for being different mate :)

Does it sound any different?

It's a lot quieter than my other exhaust as it was pretty much a straight through, it sounded like a tractor on tick over but under boost it sounded awesome. This does still sound nice though and is a lot less of a headache, should sound sweet when i get an aftermarket with oval tips.

Im not sure about stainless surrounds as it could look a bit chavy.
If you're getting another bumper you could cut the exhaust cut out of that and fibreglass it onto yours, you'd have to paint it of course so a bit more work involved than just cutting the shape out.

Yeah i need to have a search on oval tips and do some photoshopping. I was also thinking maybe rounded square tips as it will fill the hole even better but could look horrible.

Yeah you know, they would be as small as poss and be misted not shinny, but this is why I want to play about with another bumper.....

Will look awesome with gap filling tips.
I had a picture of someone fitting what he described as "tail pipe is a larger version of the astra vxr tail pipe but upside down"

Ill look for it and post it, looked good and fitted perfectly

This could be another option to ovals, it would fill the hole perfectly but not sure it would look right, it's a rounded square, what I mentioned above a few posts.

Just no. Looks chav as fck.

Not sure, depends if my mate would mind me doing that to his exhaust, i know i could weld them back on but not sure he'd be happy with that.

Finally fitted my mates blueflame cat back exhaust system and 3" DP n 200 cell sports cat to my car.
All I need to do now is get some oval tips that look half decent which is proving to be more difficult than originally anticipated.

Here's how it looks atm...ignore the dirty bum, the smallest amount of rain on the road n the back end gets filthy...that's my excuse anyway.

A little video of my launch control mashing up the head, no actual launching though.

That's the one....got them mixed up

They do some special stuff there, so you work there or something?

I do yes. There's is some very special things in there. Can just about see probably the most famous rs200's to the right of my car. That mustang however is a piece of crap, but I want it lol.

Is Chris B still there? Was some extremely rare and lovely kit in there when I had a look about can't imagine anything has changed
