Picked up my A3 1.4 Sport S-tronic 3 door today. Very impressed so far. Pics to follow.

Hi Chelmersteve, your car looks great. I have something very similar on order so it's reassuring you are happy with the 1.4 S-Tronic!

Did you stick with sport suspension or de-select it? I de-selected it as the roads aren't great around me.

Hi Doug. I stayed with Sport suspension and its fine - more compliant than the S-Line suspension on my A1 and the roads round here aren't all that good. I'm an S-tronic fan - this is my fourth, I had 2 A3s with the original 6 speed box then the A1 and now this.
Most noticeable thig about this new engine is how quickly it warms up. It was one of the design aims to get it to proper operating temperature as fast as possible and they've certainly achieved it.
Strangest thing is the bonnet - its aluminium and weighs nothing compared to the A1's

Hi chelmersteve hope the new cars treating you well. Just wandering how your finding the difference in size and in the car in general to the A1. I currently have the 1.4 sline A1 and am waiting on a delivery time for my new sline A3 with the 1.4. So was keen to hear any differences so far.

Hi Nick. the post previous to yours above says it really.
The new 1.4 engine is sweet and lively, I've got the Driver assist on Auto at the moment - will experiment with that later. Ride is definitely better than A1. The electric handbrake feels a bit odd at first and I've tried to operate it the wrong way at least once - you have to think of it as a handbrake and pull it up to engage (rather than as a button that you press to select, if you get my meaning). Other than that very comfortable, and, the fuel gauge hasn't moved from the half full mark with 100 or so miles so far.
Bigger car, similar performance, better economy, no change to insurance - seems like a winner.

Enjoy the lovely feeling of new car.

The 1.4 S-tronic is a great engine and gearbox combination. I ran a little Skoda Fabia VRS as a daily driver for a year and it is a car I'd recommend to anyone, easy to drive, responsive good running costs. You have all that with the added Audi feel good factor and that has to be a winner. Oh and I do like that new DIS display, very cool that.

Out of curiosity I'm assuming you have paddles on the steering wheel? Are these aluminium or black. Also is the plus and minus illuminated. Haven't seen any pictures of the paddles yet and awaiting my Stronic :)

Lovely car by the way. Really like the colour.

MBK - this is the brand new 1.4 122 ps petrol engine - its not the same as the one in the Fabia or the A1. Its slightly bigger (1395cc vs 1390cc), is aluminium rather than iron and has reverted to belt driven cams. Its from the new EA211 range of modular engines.

Slade, it has the standard black paddles , I seem to remember the + and - being illuminated but will have to check

Interesting, as the saying goes you learn something new everyday!

Hi I've just swapped from the A1 1.6tdi sport the the new A3 1.6tdi sport and I love it! Cannot fault the A1 but the A3 is a mark better in lots of ways. I also got a few extras :) like Audi Sound system & interior lights pack which add to the experience! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364549083947544

Were you on the M6 yesterday?

Might have been? Depends who's asking :)

I was behind you and at the side of you for miles through all that terrible traffic. I recognised your plate from your pic. Your car looks great by way...

Ha! Cheers :D not the best journey north I've had! Nightmare. Signs said 'animals in road ' all very confusing. At least I had 10 speakers to keep me occupied :)

I thought that too; no animals to speak of...
