I'm wanting to do the 312mm disc upgrade on my 140 2.0 tdi 2004. I'm sure this has been mentioned many times before but I've been searching for ages and can't find the answer to my question. I need to know which carriers to use, I know they have to be 312mm carriers but where can I source them from? Are there any other cars that use the same carrier i.e golf mk 5? I'm looking to buy second hand preferably as they'll be cheaper I just need to know what to look for!

Thanks

Yea the golf mk5 has 312mm carriers and also the a3 2.0tfsi either will do.

Are the calipers the same? Keep an eye on the classifieds there some times on thee there was a set on vagoc not too long ago x

Yeah I'm pretty sure the callipers are the same but there are two different makes of calliper from what I can see from research. That would mean there are two different carriers also? Maybe it would be better to buy the caliper and carrier together?

As far as I'm aware the caliper doesn't need to be swapped. Just carrier discs and pads.

Maybe check part numbers?

Have you done the job yet would be interested to know someone who has finished the conversion and can confirm ....

I just bought the golf gti edition 30 calipers and discs with brembo pads got them cheap off ebay, best have a look on there could get a bargain

Yeah I have a feeling if I'm patient some will crop up at a decent price, I keep looking on eBay. I ideally just want to buy the carrier because I have no use for a caliper seen as though they don't need to be changed. I was hoping to put a set of drilled and grooved 312mm discs on too. Most people seem to be selling the full set up though which just have the standard discs and have the calipers included. I'll keep an eye out!

I recently bought a set of carriers, calipers, brand new pads and nearly new discs off ebay for £30 buy it now. There are some bargains to be had!

I have a set of front calipers and discs etc from my 2011 2.0 TFSI available (did a big brake upgrade). Pads included are Brembo HP2000. Done 13000 miles. Pads changed in December. PM if you need more details.

Im bidding on some on eBay at the moment, but if I don't win them I'll let you know and we might be able to sort something out.

Thanks!

Finall bought some new brakes today :)

Calipers carriers discs pads and dust covers....

£140 delivered :) chuffed with the price gonna buy some new pads as the ones I get will be used .....

Can anyone confirm the numbers embossed on the top of the carriers?
I've found some on ebay, that look like this:

With 569 embossed on the top.

Will they fit a 2006 a3 quattro?

Yep, Just thought I might snap these up as they end tomorrow, and are a decent price (£20 per carrier).
Just trying to figure out if they will fit...

What did he charge for the carriers? And did you only do the fronts?
