Hi,

This morning when I started my car I got a warning message telling me that my coolant level is low, checked under the hood and saw that it was on the minimum line, after i drove 20 meters it stopped to warn. Checked after 10 minutes the coolant level have rised again and now stable between min and max.

Normally the coolant level is on max but it seems that when cold(-14C this morning) it drops to minimum, why is that? bad coolant fluid?

My engine is a "03G 103 308 B years 2005.5 to 2006.6 only a few cracked". Hopefully I don't have problems with cylinder head

Coolant should be between min-max when the engine is cold, it will rise when the engine warms up.

I would check you don't have any leaks, top the fluid up and see if you are losing any.

Scrape the coolant level sensor rods in the coolant tank with a knife. Job done.

I will fill it between min-max when the engine is ice-cold tomorrow

Thanks

this happened to me too! just added a few mm extra of coolant and voila, problem solved

How long time ago was this? I really like the car but it starts to annoy me with all these issue.

Also happened to me last week. Put some more coolant in and the warning has gone.

If your topping it up with distilled water it might be worth getting a coolant freeze temp kit from halfords.
They are only about £2 but will tell you at what temperature the coolant will freeze (the more water in the mix the higher the freezing point).
