as the title suggests, i think i have a dead A/c compressor. I have just had the car re-gassed and the thing still blows the warm air as before. as the weather is cooling down i am not so bothered and the garage refunded me the cost of the fefill.

I was just wondering if there was a slight chance it could be something else...something a bit cheaper.

when the aircon is turned on, there is no change in the blower. nothing kicks in and there is def no change in the temp.

any help would be appreciated.

Its the pressure sensor, ill take a pic of it tonight and post it up.

Ill cost iirc £33.

if your right....you are a pocket saver. and the refund of the gas will pay for that. haha

Check the fuse by the battery too... this seems to be a common cause of air con not working

<tuffty/>

is that fuse easy to recognise?
i dont have a manual yet and not sure of my way round the fuses yet. thanks

the fuse is either on the drivers side, when you open the door the black plastic on the side of the dash pops off and theres fuses there or there is fuses in the little battery fuse box.

The one on the side of the dash has a fuse allocation list on the flap.

If the fuses are ok, maybe change this;

But id get someone else to do it because im guessing its all going to be pressurised and your going to need it re gassed and all that.

My aircon was only blowing hot air recently. Found that the fans in the engine bay were not working, due to the fan controller fuse had burnt out. Its in the small fuse box on top of the battery, far left fuse. Changed that and the fans spun up with ice cold aircon again, so was chuffed it was not a costly repair!! :yahoo:

ive got exactly the same fault mate can you post up your results am well confused

just to let you know i fixed mine today:salute: to those who said a fuse.......went to the fuse panel at the drivers side trim was looking up aircon when i noticed "electromagnetic clutch" thought hmmmmmm i wonder and low and behold it was blown!!!! aircon fixed for 5p fuse!!!!!! happy as a pig covered in the brown stuff:anbet::kissmyrings:

ok, i ahve checked all the fuses and they are fine. So i went to check on the pressure switch based on the above picture (and a test i had found out about).....but, could i find the switch? could i hell. mine seems to be in a different place to that. unless its under someting i need to remove (the engine was too hot to touch at the time).
I just realised that my oil cap is on the other side to that picture above.

so, can anyone help me locate the air-con pressure switch on a 2000 S3.
(got my refund from the regas anyway)
also, does anyone know if i will lose the gas if i remove the pressure switch?

how are you ment to know whether they work or not?? they look like there water proof ones. covered in plastic that isn't see through.

plus wouldn't other things not work if they'd of gone??

it looks like you can see the metal srip along the top of the fuse. so im guessing if that is intact then the fuse is ok. if im wrong, somebody let me know and il change mine.

Mine had just gone black'ish on both sides, the metal strip was still intact.

i have a air con compressor sitting in my garage if anyone needs it

how much?

mine do aswell on inside of door. but how can you tell on the battery? cant see the metal strip on them. would anything else not be working if one of those was broken?

Mate I've had my car diagnosed by Audi Brisbane and they tell me my AC pressure switch is "kaput" so I went ahead and ordered a new one online (because its a 100 times cheaper), however only problem now that I have the part is I can find where it goes? have you had any luck with finding yours since.

this is one topic I can't find much info about online.

Just realised the date on the earlier posts... Whoops! Well the link might help someone :S
