I have a a4 2.8l and I want to get a new audi and I'm looking at the 1.8t and the s4 but not sure which I should get I did some research but I would like to have some opinions on the 2 cars
:)

I'd go for an S4 if you're ok with the running costs. No replacement for boosted displacement.

Yeah that's true most of the ones that I've looked up the 1.8t and s4 is around the same process 8-10 grand Im just trying to figure out what I want

what year you looking at ?

Eh I'm looking prob in the 04 05 and lower years can't afford anything much higher

Why not go for a 2.0 tfsi quattro? 1.8 is a small lump to drag an a4 along.

My 2p in the pot!

get a B5 S4, whack a full stainless exhaust on, and be prepared for one of the most amazing noises you have heard in your life, save yourself a few grand to spend on petrol :D

I'll have to do that ! Sounds like a good plan

Thanks everyone for their input really appreciated it.

how handy are you with spanners or how much cash do you have in the bank?

I went 1.8t as it is emminently tunable for the size, you only need 4 of everything for engine components and one of everything turbo/mani/exhaust wise and the only thing that requires the engine being pulled is changing the clutch.
a set of rods, beefier clutch and a big turbo conversion and you could be well over 400bhp at a reasonable cost.
add some uprated valvetrain and a few bits and bobs and there are GT35/40 equipped 1.8ts running nutty power

by contrast the S4 has an awesome sound track will get you potentially higher gains and a smoother power curve but at a cost.
6x everything for engine upgrade
double the amount of turbos, manis, CAT/decat, exhausts and you better get very comfortable pulling engines if you dont have a ready supply of cash for someone else to do it.
400+bhp on an S4 is potentially easier to reach...but IMO will cost you more

if you only are looking for 300+bhp...just get the S4 and be done!

I loved my B5 S4
few tweaks and you have a car with as already said a fantastic sound track and awesome power delivery which still puts a hell of a lot of cars to shame .
