i hit the back of a mini at a round about. i thought it would pull out as there was no traffic but she didn't so couldn't brake in time. was only do 15 mph but my front end is a mess. the mini had a crack bumper and fog light. she then drove home.

yep i'm gutted. my insures trying to get me into a ford garage for the repair as well

My dad done the same sort of thing at a set of traffic lights in his jetta. His insurance company sent it to a toyota garage for repair, it needed a whole new bonnet & honestly they made a brilliant job mate so dont be to put off that yours has been sent to a ford garage. Keep us all posted mate, i hope the repair job doesn't take too long.

how long should it normally take to get sorted? have spoke to audi aand they have said they can sort things out, as long as the costs are agreeable.

My dads jetta took 3 days to get sorted but as i say that was just for the bonnet as he ran in to the back of an army landrover so it was only the bonnet that got damaged. So i think you could be looking anywhere between 3 to 5 days.

😞 sorry to hear mate.. Don't worry sure it will be good as new very soon mate

Unlucky mate, I had a somebody go into the back of my old Corsa at a roundabout and I've also rear ended a car on black ice so I know how you feel, fingers crossed you don't get a whiplash claim from her.. I got one from the woman I rear ended on black ice.. its really annoying but the car shouldn't take too long to fix as long as there isn't any damage under the bonnet.

Ouch! you didn't have the car long going by the reg. I think a awful lot of drivers have done what you have done, Me too, but only once.

Oh no, keep your distance dude. Were you like looking right and anticipating her to set off rather than watching her? New bumper, bonnet, wing job done :icon_thumright:

did a similar thing a couple of years ago, lights had just changed to green and i was oggling a busty blonde, only to see the car infront of me stood still, bumpers just slightly touched , driver asked me if i'd been looking at the blonde over the road, told him the truth and he said he'd also been doing the same, both laughed it off, my son who was a passnger though grassed me up on returning home.

the radiator has been popped, grill, bumper, bonnet and possible drivers door are ******. lucky the airbags did'nt go off. cant believe the damage but suppose that how the design car now. my white rings and S3 grill wont be replaced, i think the repairers will put a standard BE grill back on. do you think there a chance a S3 could go on?

Why don't you get a S3 grille off Fleabay yourself and supply them with it.....it will be very easy for them to use it instead of the BE one whilst they have everything off anyway, and if you're lucky they will pay you for the grille instead of having to pay Audi for the OE one, and simply not order it ?

Oh, and that is the most common type of accident there is......I reckon 70% of drivers have either done exactly what you did, or got very, very close....I know I have !

I'll speak to Audi bodyshop later today, as i also want the rings painted white again. just need to sort out the courtesy car and get on the move again. really annoyed with myself, least i have NCP with insurance, so no big hike next year.

how much you reckon to repair, me thinks +£3k

Not the same, but followed a Nissan Note up to a set of traffic lights yesterday and she stopped on the green!

Glad I wasn't too close.....:sm4:

I bumped my old A3 170tdi 58 plate and it looked fairly similar to that tbh....i did it a slightly different way tho..thats another story.

I had the bumper replaced, n/s wing, washer bottle and n/s headlight and everything painted and fitted for no more than 1k.

I crashed it on the friday, it was done by the monday.....

I suspect the door will be pretty expensive... so i'd say your estimation wont be far off.

Its who you know...not what you know :)

Sorry to hear what happened mate.

I had a similar adventure a couple of months ago. Lucky nobody got hurt. Lesson learned.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

hope you get a good repair job done !

Dude... Feel for you mate.

Its gutting when it happens. Was the same when I hit a BMW at the beginning of the year. Only 5mph cost me £4k worth of damage.

I asked for an S3 black edition grill and they popped one on for me

Hope it gets all sorted for you!

Like a kick in the balls! Hope you're luck improves mate!

Evolution....

That's rubbish man - at least you're okay! Hope all works out for you.

Not to state the obvious , but did you declare the S3grill to the insurance ?
IF you did or it came as standard make sure you get one replaced BUT if you didn't say nothing and hope they didn't notice or they may declare a un registered modification and not pay out for repair and void ins !

Bad luck mate, almost done this myself, now I always make sure the car in front has departed before I even start looking at proceeding, hopefully will be sorted soon!

Gutted for you mate :(

I did a very similar thing on Monday, coming up to a junction, slowed in a queue of three cars, me at the rear, first one went.
White golf came right to left on the main road and the car infront of me started to move off, I looked right to check for more traffic as I released the clutch and BANG. The car infront had stopped :(

Luckily the only damage to mine was a broken foglight surround, front grill (upgrade to S3 grill time?!) and a snapped headlight mounting. However she is claiming serious damage to her car whiplash etc etc.

Thank the lord for protected no claims :D

Sad to see :(

If you need an S3 Black Edition Grille, I have one in the classifieds. Very easy to just fit yourself and sell the one they put on it, standard BE?

PM me if you are interested.

ive nearly done this at roundabouts a few times before, hope you get it sorted soon :(

Easily done, and feels horrible! Soon gets sorted and pretty much forgotten though.

Thats bad luck..... easily done though. I have white black edition bumper as ive just changed mine to S3 if you need one

I feel for you, Blobbob2....same happened to me. Pulled up behind a Citroen Picasso to exit from a side road. Large gap in oncoming traffic, went to pull out and turn left but the flipping Picasso was still there! Yep...my fault but I couldn't understand why they didn't go....put it down to experience M8!

People tailgating me makes me so angry too! Rant over.

The thing that amazed me when I had my pop was how much damage can be done at such slow speeds.

My damage was pretty much the same sort of yours but the fact that it like pushes doors etc back is incredible.

You heard any more news about the repair etc yet?

Gutted mate, hope everything works out, can't believe there giving you a Nissan Duke more like Nissan JOKE! Lol

As a couple have said, don't worry about it, I did the exact same thing in my first car (52 plate Clio). At a big roundabout, large gap in traffic, thought the car in front would pull out but didn't resulting in me going into the back of him. Hardly got any speed up but my car was still wrote off by the insurers due to it being a **** French tin can.

Hope you get yours back soon though! :racer:
