Hi all.

Would be great if someone could help shed some light on a few areas I have questions with.

Firstly, the S3 (8P2) seems to have an increased 'hiss', or the noise of air movement when under load accelerating. Its hard to explain but there is a definite whoosh upwards from 3k revs. I don't know if its me just becoming more aware of it but would be great to hear the opinions of others. The S3 is just at 45k mark and I don't think that the DV and PCV have ever been upgraded. Could one of these be giving me problems?

I plan to instal a catch can over the next few months anyway so that will sort the PCV issue with the motor.

Also, the Forge website shows 3 DV units for the S3? Can anyone confirm which fits as the best replacement. I'm not after skyline type chatter off throttle, just the best quality DV for the car.

Thanks in advance.

Lee.

Thanks for your reply. In terms of going the OEM route, would a revision D version not be the better choice as more reliable? Thanks.

Hi lee ,take the diverter value out and take a look ,see the condition ,oem all the way lee, also i,ve seen theres a new revised d value just out...

Nice. Thanks for that. I've just got the how to remove guide for the dv from Warren_s3 on here so going to have a look. I also noticed yesterday that the engine cover isn't sitting perfectly on the engine. Another example of the quality of work by Audi following a service. Let's see what I find.

Right so got the toolbox out and removed the engine cover etc and got the DV off. S3kel, thanks for the pic upload. My DV is neither one of those, it's one of the first with the orange rubber diaghram. The gasket looks fine, no splits or tears but I fear it may be a bit tired. There is a bit of play in its piston, as in I an wiggle it left as right as you look at it side on. I'm thinking a change to the new revision version. Would you agree?

In terms of symptoms, when on boost, and changing gear there is a sssshhhh noise which lasts for the whole time taken to change gears and isn't the usual sharp psstt you can slightly hear in the cabin. Would this suggest the DV is t doing what it should properly?

And finally, any suggestions on where is the best place to pick up a new dv, can always get on from Audi Centre Sydney if needed.

Thanks

Lee

Hi lee , yeah give it a go , if you can get cheaper online do that,if not phone your local audi dealer and get a price..

Audi Australia makes good profit on DVs. Been quoted $225 for one today. Have seen them online for Less than half that. Never mind, picking one up from a specialist for much less later today. Bringing back full boost! :))
