Hi,

Im interested in upgrading my steering wheel to the new style.

I have an audi a3 2004 8p with the 3 spoke sport steering wheel.

If I were to get the new MFSW, what would I need to get it working beside coding.

If I were to not get a MFSW but in the new style

(AUDI A3 04 AUTO PADDLE LEATHER STEERING WHEEL | eBay).

How would I get this working ?

Regards,

From what I've read you'd need a new dual stage airbag as well which costs £££

This is what I was told by Nigel NHN.

I also have a 2004 A3 with the twin grill and old style steering wheel. I enquired about a steering wheel upgrade and he said I'd need to replace the airbag as well, which costs a lot more than just replacing the steering wheel and using your current airbag.

Do you currently have a 'shield' shaped airbag that would fit the wheel you have linked to ? Also, do you have a DSG box ?

bare in mind that after upgrading the single stage airbag to a dual stage airbag, the bag itself may not deploy when needed. its not exactly something that can be easily tested! and there was a report of someone who did the upgrade but when he was in an accident it did not deploy.
not saying that it wont work but its the risk you need to accept when messing about with airbags.

single stage:

dual stage mfsw:

if you have the single stage you could go for this:

looks better but still not a mfsw

It looks really nice,it would be good if someone here has bough it before so they can tell us about the experience of it.

I currently have the one stage steering wheel with 3 spoke. Also its a 5 speed manual 1.6 petrol

£100 for the steering seem to be decent price mate, you wont get any better. I would go for it,it just I am a bit worried about airbag problem.Even though it is still single stage airbag,I am still worried.
