Worth getting a machine for just paint cleansing?

I have been looking at getting a dual action machine for probably the sole task of applying paint cleansers and glazes. My car only has some light defects mainly swirls due to I think the previous owners was technique as I have always used the two bucket method.

From having a look at another post on here it seems hexlogic white and possibly black pads would be the way to go.

Would also anyone advise the use of a paint depth gauge? Also if I wanted to achieve more correction what polish would people advise for Audi paintwork?

The last thing is someone convince me having the machine and using maybe 2-3 times a year is a justifiable cost?
 
Bottom line is you need a DA polisher, I've got a DAS-6 and I would not have been able to get the finish on mine without it!

It also makes the application of my CG blacklight a breeze

This was my write up of my correction detail. I had to use quite an aggressive combo due to the hard paint. Didn't use a gauge as I couldn't justify buying one but if you had one to hand then use it :)
 
Did you have bad swirls and scratches or just minor swirls from washing? I don't think I need anything too aggressive on mine as the major swirls are only in on small area which I will tackle by hand.
 
I had quite bad swirls which were impossible to remove by hand, I did a test patch to remove the swirls and repeated that technique over the whole car :)

due to vag paint being very hard I'm afraid going by hand won't do the job, you could use poorboys black hole to fill the swirls if you didn't want to use a DA
 
You'll end up using it more than you think anyway. I use mine probably every 4-6 weeks. I started off just for mild correction, but I use it for cleaning, polishing, glazing, sealing, and I've just got a kit for polishing my glass and headlights. It just makes everything easier, but it still takes time.

Have you got DA or a rotary? I can see me end up using it for paint cleansers and glazes minimum.
