Just a quick rant -

Purchased an item on ebay USA - a Symphony II+ headunit that is quite hard to find here in the UK.

Paid $52 for shipping to the UK.
Checking the tracking details online - the parcel arrived in the UK two days after it was sent from the US - fantastic.

To cut a long story short, it arrived in the UK two weeks ago (15th May) - it has only just arrived at the local depo after the status read (Waiting customs clearance & charging)
For the privilege they are charging me £58 customs.

I honestly don't know how they can justify it - especially when I can get stuff delivered from China in a week without any customs.

the charge aint for delivery
its for vat and tax on the item you bought

sometimes the gift thing dont work
iv had to pay duty on 3 items sent as gift
with them comeing from a company there not daft
only ones i get through as gifts now are the ones sent from mates

Yep if there is any invoice or even a printed address containing papers then its a little hit and miss. Seems steep but they work it out on total price inc delivery. So for car imports it used to be 10% duty + VAT.

I had a similar thing. I got 8 new arp bolts from IE in America. Payed £41 for the bolts and £40 delivery. I then got a note from parcel force saying I owe a £38 customs charge!! All for 8 frigging bolts!

I had to get a recoil buffer for a gun I own and there is only one place in the world that makes them, and charges $40, plus $38 postage to the UK. And when it got here I was hit with £24 of assorted charges.
The **** take is that its a small round bit of plastic. 21mm in diameter and 11mm high with a 40 degree taper, and its cost me the best part of £100.
