Hi guys,

Needing some new discs for the S3 with a brembo GTjr kit (leon setup). What would you recommend?

The standard grooved brembo discs have definitely seen better days do want to maybe move away from them. Got a nice set of ferodo baggins ds2500 pads waiting to go on too.

Ive had a standard set of discs priced at £280 which seems quite alot. Black Diamond grooved are about £330 and EBC standard are about £140....Have had ebcs on the back of a previous car which was fine as theres hardly any braking force there but what about front?

I've just put a set of these on following a recommendation of a friend on SeatCupra.net. I've not really put them to the test yet (mostly motorway miles thus far). They seem to be some sort of a German make but no idea where they are actually made. £179.50 + £12.50 delivery.

I had a similar dilemma to you - I run Black Diamond on the Cordoba but didn't fancy £300 plus, and have had bad experiences with EBC Ultimax discs.

IMO disks are disks.

Any bad experiences are typically down to overheating them or not bedding them in properly and as a result getting pad deposits.

I've never used anything other than cheap standard motorfactors disks, and i've never had any problems.

Well I got the standard discs price down to £220 so £60 off aint bad. 12month warrenty on them too so will do fine.

Ive warped black diamond discs in the past too...

Buy the cheapest ones you can find.

Aragorn is spot on. Makes no difference aside from aesthetics.

I have that set up and bought pagid discs, I think, from eurocarparts. Still set me back about £200 though. Not cheap due to size.

I think its more rarity than size.

B5 S4 disks are 320x30mm and they're nowhere near £200! Heck even the 345x30 disks from the B6 S4 are only about £50 a corner!

agreed again.

323mm are a nightmare to find but...that's the size they recommended on those units for good or bad. i wanted to maintain the stadard lcr sizes.

EBC standard are about £140....

I've just got myself a set of EBC discs from GSF at £140, From the point of brake pedal feel at road temps then most discs all feel the same and offer very little real gains. I find drilled discs crack around the drilled holes and grooved ones made too much noise for daily use.

I'm using OEM LCR solid discs, they are around £200+vat. I would have preferred drilled discs, but Brembo want £350+vat, and they are notorious for warping.

Well the brembo discs supplied with my kit never warped and I baked them at the ring. Not worth the price though.
