HI all.

I've just bought a '96 Audi A4 1.8T sport and the centre information panel works in that it displays information but is very dim?

Is there any way to adjust this or is it on its way out?

Cheers for any advice

are there any dead/ missing pixels?
on my old 98my i had a few dead pixels and it was a case of getting a new cluster (around £500 from main dealer) - glad i had a warranty back then

You can turn it up using the left turny thing that sticks out from the instrument cluster, but they are prone to start fading but usually not in a uniform way.

Actually thinking about it I think this just turns up the dash lights, can't remember if it effects the DIS

ok cheers guys I'll have a closer look when i get the car (tomorrow) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i get the problem a tiny bit when the interior is warm. if you notice on a cool evening that all the parts of the LCD are working then it is just a normal problem that lots of people have. on mine it is the dividing horizontal bars that dim and thankfully not the nubers.

Mine started fadeing when the weather was warm on my S4, luckily I had it changed under warranty. My 1.8T which is older is fine though.

A fading DIS is a common problem, and there's no cure, other than replacement. And don't bother there, either. You have to buy a complete new instrument clsuter, & they're mega-money.

Best to learn to live without it.
