Now before anyone jumps down my throat this isnt a "I wanna beat my mate in his TT 0-60 boost yo!!!" thread.

My mate recently bought an 04 plate TT 150Bhp (standard), he popped over for me to have a look last night. He took me out in it and i was really impressed. It felt tight as a drum in the bends and pulled really hard for 150Bhp, compared to my A4 163Bhp.

My A4 seemed to lag alot more and feels really wobbley compared to his TT. The TT has 74k miles compared to my 134k miles *cough*. After a recent Audi health check i was told the rear anti roll bar stops had cracked, would this really make it feel that bad. As for the lag i am guessing maybe the turbo has seen better days?

any how, feel free to air opinion.

cheers,

Sounds like a good time to fit an RS4 ARB !!!!!

I thought it must be weight related to be honest.

Yeah this month is a RS4 ARB!

I've had two 225 TT's a 150 would have only been fwd not quattro which would make it feel a little quicker but I'm surprised that it made your A4 feel that crap, my last TT had the works regards remap, FMIC, hoses and straight through race lite exhuast etc etc maybe pushing 280bhp by the time I'd finished but in the end I just found the handling lacking somewhat maybe due to the fact that it was the "haldex" quattro rather than "true" quattro and to be fair I should have spent more on the suspension set up. I would be surprised if changing your suspension didn't make a major difference and if it feels laggy then maybe a re-map but unless there are obvious signs your turbo's probably fine, as stated a TT is lighter and you can get 4 adults in your A4  In my op the mk1 TT needed way too much modding to turn it into the car it was supposed to be...

First thing to try is maybe a replacement or upgrade of the front arms etc, made such a difference to mine. Then as you say the ARB. Unless the shocks are totally knackered, that should do it?

@ Aligod, what did you replace exactly part numbers?

is there a 150 !!! thought the 2 specs was 180 or 225 which could be found by the single or twin exhausts !!! or am i wrong

This is another thing I said "oh it's the 180bhp?" he said "no it's the 150bhp! " I doubted myself, using know why because I know a **** load more than he does about cars.

i never knew they made one, so i learned that today.....
150FWD is often rated higher than the 180 and 225bhp TT's as sports coupé purists tend to be a bit funny about things like Haldex quattro's and I've seen journo comments about the 150FWD raving about how much lighter and more agile it feels than the 180 and 225 TT's even though ultimately it's not as quick A-B, it is more fun to drive. regarding your own car... RS4 RARB is the best value for money mod you can do, bar none (pun intended!)..... it will make the handling much more responsive in the corners and push the balance more towards neutral rather than understeer.

Today is a school day I never knew audi made a 150 tt. Rs4 arb will be ordered tomorrow!

just get the RS4 one, no need to go aftermarket.... and don't get tempted by the front+rear aftermarket sway bar (ARB) kits... it will push the car back towards understeer if you tighten the front end up at the same time as the rear.

I thought the only 150bhp tt made was the roadster and that the lowest power tt coupe was the 180bhp. I am sure all the UK coupes came with the 4wd haldex system.

Q4, you may be onto something (in part)....

Audi TT Coupé (99-06) Performance - Facts and Figures | Parkers
Audi TT Roadster (99-06) Performance - Facts and Figures | Parkers

Parkers is far from accurate, but from their stats, it looks like there's a 150 and 163 FWD roadster and the a 180 and 190 FWD coupé!

I'm pretty sure that there were FWD coupé on the old shape TT (there's definitely FWD 1.8T and 2.0T in the new shape), but I'm not certain on their exact BHP outputs...
