Unfortunately Audis are now offically big news on the VAG scene and it seems anyone who had a mk4 golf is now progressing up to the 8P. With this popularity comes nasty cheapo add ons that some people find hard to resist!

This post reminds me of when I bought my A3 in 2010. I had so many haters. But there was an equal amount of lovers :) If you own it and you like it, who cares what others think. It's good to be unique plus my sister already had the white one:

I agree but not all aftermarket stuff is bad. Everything in moderation as they say :)

I don't think anyone on here will say ALL aftermarket stuff is bad a lot of us will find something we prefer to OEM mainly its the small little things but I think everyone believes that body kit makes the car look completely different in all aspects and not even like an a3 anymore. I can defo say if that went past me I wouldn't be looking saying ooo what's that? Is that an rs3 I'll be thinking WTF???

Hullo all,

Now i'm completely new to this, i've been registering on Audi forums recently to get some inspiration for a new car i will be purchasing in December. I know this is now an ended thread, however the comment above just irritated me. I currently own a MK4 golf, and yes i did make some changes to it. No i don't consider that i 'chav'd' it up, however some people might. I just don't think it's fair to say that all us mk4 owners are going to BarryBoy out the audis just BEACUSE we owned a mk4? I'd say that's down to the individual regardless of whether they owned a golf before or not. And btw, not everyone would 'upgrade' to a audi A3, they are stunning cars, but that's also down to personal preference, whether or not people think that changing to an A3 is actually an upgrade, is down to them.
Sorry if i caused offence to any members, that is not my intention. i just did not think the above comment was fair, and seeing as i do still own a golf, am quite protective

Ethan.

Couldn't agree more - there are plenty of very nice Golfs going about. And I know plenty of people who went from A3s to Mk3s and 4s and have gone on to do pretty nice things to them. Assuming that everyone moving from a Golf to an A3 is going to bring crappy aftermarket stuff with them is just stupid, and if anything it's a logical progression car-wise and there's very few "chavved" Golfs either... that's the kind of a$$-hole arrogance that gives Audi drivers a bad name.

And to Preeyen - how could anyone not like that colour! Looks even better in the sun, doesn't it!

Omg I saw one of those 'rs3 kits' driving around the other day and it looked hideous! Something I thought I wouldn't see since the ford escort production had been stopped.

God Warren.......is that really a suede topped engine?

Ohhhhh yes it is! Some people call it unique, others individual, but I think it's special. As long as I reside on ASN I'll never forget the thread that went with it, it was a corker!

As for the Golf 4 comments, to be honest the same happened in the world of the Mk1 Leon Cupra R. I owned a minter 2005 model from new, and at this point the Leon Cupra R was 3 years old (launched in 2002), and a small minority were buying up the second hand cars and were turning them into atrocities. It happens, and some people will always find ways to 'bang tidy' their motors. I think we're pretty lucky in the VAG scene that a lot of what gets done is of fairly high taste / price, and that it's rare (if ever) you see something with Evo bonnet vents and 6 rocket launchers hanging out the back. Mostly we tend to see OEM+ rather than DIY+ which keeps standards elevated.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say, so it's only when you get your car on show and the public vote that you'll know if you've done a stinker.

Again for a non-gen kit it does seem to fit pretty well but definately not my thing,i think the gap in front of the wheel to the bumper looks shocking as if they couldnt be bothered finishing off how it should be shaped,as for the comment above about it been a down grade with bumpers and things like this is sadly true you look at cars for sale not many sell for a good price when they have kits on because a lot of time when people want an audi they want an audi and they like the look of the cars.
As said each to there own and thats what makes people and there opinions different

gonna get one of these fitted in December, but which one?

LOL! It's SPECIAL alright...

Maybe that bumper would look a bit better if it was a bit less "Jimmy Hill"...
