Hi any help would be much appreciated. I was just out in the car this morning when it lost power and ran to a stop. Oil icon flashed up on the on board computer. I tryed to re start car and oil icon came on again and thought best just to leave it at that. I checked oil and and it is full. I did have an oil change 2 months past but the filter wasnt changed not sure why!. Any past experience or ideas? Maybe dirty filter, sensor? Thanks again.

Audi a4 avant 2003
1.9tdi

I'd be getting the sump off I think and checking it all over. Whilst ordering a new filter.

hi thanks for the input so far. car is still abandoned as no garage has been able to take it in till earliest wed morn.
is any of the above an easy fix. also the tow eye for my car is missing. and have tryed an a3 and a4 eye. both dont seem to fit
is it possible threads are shot. or do i need a year 03 avant two eye.

hi, thanks. no i dont think they are standard i may be wrong but the a3 tow eye threads seemed to be bigger than the a4. I think i might need to get an a4 around the 2003 year as the a4 tow eye i got was from a 2009 saloon.

iv used a3 a4 a6 a8 tow eyes on all sorts ov audi they nealy all fit are you screwing it in the right way
i know for defo my 8p fits my b7 cos its on there now
to your problem a filter wont stop the car from starting what oil warning have you got ?
the big red 1 or the small aber 1 ?
if it was low preasure ( big red oil can warning) get ready for a lot of £££££££££££££££

Hi thanks bez i managed to get car uplifted to house via my insurance but i think the a4 eye will fit will a little wd40 i have noticed. thanks.
Now for the oil light, yes its the big red oil can warning light that flashes up on the computer!

Check the cambelt mate as the 1.9 tdi is fairly bullet proof and does not suffer sludge problems... I reckon your cambelt broke hence the loss of oil pressure ! Take the sump cover off and rocker cover and check for damage...

thanks mate just waiting to get it into a garage best have them look as i am useless with cars. was just fishing for some ideas. both of the above sounds costly?? anyone had past experiences thanks

Remove the black cover of the cambelt, you cannot miss-it and check if the belt is tight, if slack or broken you need a rebuild as most likely some valves are bent...

thanks but to be honest i think it is the oil pump as the car did start a few days later if only for a second or two then cut out again. cant see it being the cambelt
