150k

Mine is now up to 121k and i've jsut had its second Cambelt done. Great little diesel and still looks great.

interesting read. diesel vs petrol. when i was looking for a new car a few weks ago i wanted quality (audi), good looks (B6), economy (1.9tdi), performance / high end power (1.8T / S4), torque / smooth cruising ability (2.5tdi), space (avant), sex appeal (cab), so i bought a 2.0FSI saloon. oh well, you win some, you lose some. im sure most people will agree (especially those who are married) that life is a compromise. enjoy it while it lasts.

When i got the Audi, i was looking for a Saab 93 1.9tdi saloon,:uhm:

171K and running sweet. 37.6 mpg is same as mine James, mine does spend it's life on motorways. Recently did a 400 mile trip and calculated it at 45mpg! That was on the full-fat Shell nutter juice tho. Not sure I can afford to run the stuff all the time but it seems to give me better mpg. Anyone else use premium diesel?

James, looks like the new engine is holding up then. 150 is just about run in :icon_thumright: there's some good figures on here but if you have a scout around TDIclub.com there was a few B6's with over 500k on them  Sold my b6 just before 150 and it was smooth and well behaved.

There was a thread on here awhile back about this, I routinely run the DTE to zero and still only get a max of 61 litres into the 66 litre tank. That's enough for me though, I don't need the grief of running out!

my 2.0 FSI will do typically 500miles with 65 litres - mainly city driving but a bit of motorway too. i have to admit i dont drive it as enthusiastically as i used to drive my subaru though

64k on mine :p

still that milage is nothing though really, my mates got a E36 M3 and thats done 165k and still goes VERY well!

Mine currently on 157K and still getting 50mpg on motorway run and 40+mpg around town. Still drives great and goes really well.

Filled up the other week when the display showed 5 miles left and put in £40 @ 137.9p per litre (29Ltr/6.38 Gallons) and did 330 miles before the dispaly was showing 5 miles again.

Just came back to this thread. V.interesting stuff and great opinions. For the record I've had my 2.5tdi for just over 12 months and 15k miles.
To address a few points that have been made:-
"Never driven one no." - I hope you have by now. I totally understand that driving preferences and styles vary.
"If you want performance, you buy a petrol" - agreed, but you buy a lightweight, high revving petrol. Get an Elise, VX220, RX8 or S2000.
"if you want economy you but a 4 pot derv" - the 1.9tdi is a class piece of kit, but if pure economy is your objective then you do your sums and buy something that has been designed by accountants with the lowest emmisions/tax, insurance group, depreciation and highest MPG - or a push bike (not a heavy A4).
"the 2.5 is wedged in the middle" - correct.

Not on the mileage that some of you are - but I am now on 131k, Engine sounds sweet & tight & no rattles in the car!
Got 50mpg on round trip to Disney Paris at the begining of the month ( 3 Adults + 2 kids + boot full to the brim + Snow on the way back from Dover)

I have two B5 ( Lostbok ) 2.5TDi Quattros.

My wifes Avant has 165k on the clock (a new engine fitted at 138K due to a rock through the sump) and Diesel Bob did the pump and injectors at about 155k, She gets 39 MPG average, town and country driving - calculated via receipts and mileage.

My saloon has 112k, and gets 43 MPG average town and country. 48 was the highest, and 32 the lowest in 12 months - remember we don't get motorways up here :sorry:.
Both DIS MPGs read near enough right now, after I corrected hers by a couple of percent with VCDS.
Interestingly she was getting 36 with her brakes sticking!

I had an 'H' reg Pug 1.9TDI that did over 250k on the same engine and turbo - until I lent it to somebody and they rolled it, and a MkV Cortina that did

150k, although it had a few engines and gearboxes, ending up with a 2.8i :racer: (Sadly it's going in the skip in a couple of weeks with two others :blownose:)
