Your engine will be damaged, it just convinces the ECU the air coming in in colder and therefore it'll inject more fuel, it'll basically run rich.

Ever seen the old 300zx's and similar older turbo cars around blowing loads of smoke out of them? The owners have done this!
 
Your title says it all, no way would they sell something for this price if it actually did what it describes with no adverse effects. lol
 
Didn't know you could buy these for 1.8T's? I've been running a piggyback ECU/chip on my Passat TDI PD for over 100k miles with no problems at all, it's switchable on and off also, didn't know about remapping and stuff 10 years ago, and I don't doubt a proper remap would off more power, but it works on my car, and I'm happy with it.
