S3MMA Modification Thread

I'm not 100% sure its the fuel pump but that is what I am thinking at the moment.

my mirrors are f***ed as well and i've also been on the hunt for some new ones without much success. i bought these caps a few weeks ago (Audi A3 S3 (NOT Facelift) 96-00 Chrome Mirror Covers | eBay), just to try and and improve the look of the mirrors while i continue my search for genuine Audi ones. wasnt expecting much for the price but jesus what a difference! they're decent quality and from the front you'd never know they were just caps. might be worth a punt if you still want the chrome look! (i know they're pre-facelift but he'll probs have an equivelant facelift set) this is the only pic i have

I am quite happy with them sprayed for now you can't tell I don't think. I am not a fan of the chrome caps as I prefer the more matt finished look.

Well everyone had moaned for pics, I have put some up and no comments.....:ermm:

Anyway this weekend I am going to re-do the dodgy mirror and also clean & dye the worn parts of my silver leather seats in hope they will look brand new.. I will upload before and after pics.

I'm not a fan of the mirrors job, I like the stock look of them... But the important it's your own opinion! What I like it's the car color... :D Unfortunately my car has two colors one at the front and one at the back.... Bad paint job probably!!!!

I think I have the in tank fuel pump problem... My S3 has every kind of problem... Some times the car doesn't stark quickly in cold but my car stays parked for weeks... So I don't know if it is the pump.

Don't forget to say what products are you going to use in the seats.

I think both the un-laquered and laquered look good personally but go with what you can live with lol

Thank you! I am intrigued to how the leather will come out!

looks like good stuff i use gliptone for leather seats will like to see how this stuff comes out

Lol not a fan of silver mirrors on cars other than silver, but the workladyship looks good :)

I think the mirrors look spot on, pretty much the same as mine from the factory, good job.

I agree, the matt finish is better than the chrome... :)

Thank you! I am pleased with them for the cost of £25 I think its not a bad job

Right well I have done my leather today, I am really pleased with the results seen as it was my first attempt.

Firstly I started with cleaning the seats with Dynamix Leather cleaner the results were really good! I waited for the seats to dry then where needed applied the silver leather seat dye also Dynamix. I have only done one coat so far but you can see the results. I wasn't sure if I needed to use filler or sand the area's first, it does say you can do this if the area is really worn.
I am going to see how mine turns out but I may sand and fill the arm support where it was quite badly damage.

Anyway here are the pics let me know what you think....In total the stuff cost me £18 ..I only got a small dye but I am definitely going to get more

Well after cleaning the seats and making the car look nice, it decided not to start this morning the battery was completely flat, I only had a new battery 6 weeks ago, I got it jumped and took it to the garage and it is charging so not sure what has caused this, I have drove to work so I will see if it starts when I leave here!

Battery death is more common in winter, but nowadays they fail a lot...

Sounds like a bleeding earth to me. If the alternator is charging across the battery terminals, I'd say that's the most likely.

The electrickery will leak out and form a puddle on the floor..... (not really)

There must be a hidden reason, a 6 week old battery shouldn't just dye, there was no life at all left!

Get the battery tested firstly. You need to eliminate guesswork.

If your battery is being charged by the alternator then it is obviously not that. If the battery has been checked and found to hold a charge and the cells all have good readings, then it's not that.

The only thing left is a power being drawn from the battery by an unknown discharge which continues after the ignition is turned off. When you are satisfied that the battery has a full charge at night, disconnect the battery, then reconnect it in the morning, if it is still fully charged, then you know that the battery is being drained when it is left connected.

If it is flat again then the battery must be a dud and the reading that the testers got were wrong.

e-leak-tricity lol!

Wiring gets hot under our bonnets and insulation perishes.

I was listening to the radio whilst cleaning my seats but would that drain the battery I only had it one for an hour? :sorry:

The alarm went off this morning, does it do that as a warning to say the battery is dying?

Mine will drain after a hour or so....i would put money on that been the cause, plus you will have had your interior lights going on and off...

yep such a beautiful thing.....I don't think work thought that when I was 2 hours late haha

Only did a small Mod this weekend as I am going on holiday tomorrow, I exchanged my standard clear wing mirror glass for blue mirrors which I think looks much better! I Got the glass from ebay £28
