C17LJR's quattro sport avant

thanks matt.

yes, diesel, petrol & s4 twin exits all line up the same,

does anyone know if i can expect any performance gains (or issues) from a full stainless exhaust with no cats?

Getting there now! (Rings) ;)

From what I've read re the exhausts, as a standalone mod I don't think they'll offer anything more than more sound, but in conjunction with a remap you'd probably see a bit more.

Decat will ofer faster spool up and sustain the power up the ref range.

Updates coming soon

some pics of the exhaust getting fitted.

had the car in with dougie @ trix to fit the exhaust but ran into problems :(

as its from a S4 it wasn't an exact fit, had to shorten the distance between the pipes from the cats. Kyle @ chizfab done this for me,

then had to get the car up on a ramp to trial it.

had to then take an inch off the length to get the hangers to line up & its fitted.

could do with coming off again & going slightly shorter.

really like what youve done mate, great job!

keep up the good work!

I wasn't sure about the lower, it's a bit hard to see in the pictures. Have you got a close up?

Properly loving this now Carl with it being wrapped white, completely transforms it! If I was gonna get an avant id want it to look just like this! Great job.

On another note, could you do me a favour mate, I'm sure you pm'd me this ages ago or maybe you said you was gonna dig it out for me, but I'm after a US front number plate blanking plate as I have short length number plates like yourself.

If you do have the part number mate could you drop me a pm with it please? :D

thanks mate, sure the part number is in the thread somewhere, put it up as so many people were asking :)

selling it soon if you fancy it.... :)

Your selling the number plate recess plate or the car??

If your talking about the number plate recess then I'll have it off you bud! But for some reason I get the feeling you were talking about selling your car?!

Why's that mate? You've got it looking spot on and put a lot into it!

I don't normally have my cars that long to be honest, most people that know me are surprised I still have this as had it over a year now.

To be honest, I love the car but had planned to sell it after our holiday and wedding next month to buy the missus a new car (a3 sportback).

I've just got myself a mk3 golf vr6 cab as a runabout and for getting to the station as get the train to work now so the avant isn't really used

I'll then save for a few months and get myself an S/RS weekend toy ;)

I know exactly what you mean mate, I normally only have my cars for about 6 months or so, drives the mrs mad! I've just taken a deposit on my e46 m3 to buy my old a4 back!

How will you explain to a prospective new owner that it is blue on the logbook and white in the flesh. I would walk away when i saw that? its only due to your thread that i know what has been done

if you read the for sale ad it gives full details about the wrap as well as the paint below. hopefully it won't get to the stage that someones come to see it thinking its white paint. :)

also, its still blue on the logbook as its a temporary sticker, same as sign writing

yeah james, decided it was gonna be to hard/time consuming to do all the shuts etc.

Car looks awesome, Bud, especially with the full wrap. As you say, there shouldn't be any problem with explaining to a prospective buyer about the colour on the V5 being different from how the car looks, vinyl wraps are only classed as temporary and therefore don't require the V5 to be changed. I wish you lots of GLWTS, she's a beauty.

Incidentally did you get the wrap done in Kirkcaldy? I'm from there myself and am looking for someone to do some vinyl work on my car when I'm down visiting my folks in July.

maybe its me but if i was looking at a wrapped car i would be thinking i wonder what hes hiding?

yeah, understand that mate, think some people will be the same & will probably put people off. I wasn't planning on selling just yet & the wrap was just a bit of fun for the DC show really.

Thing is though, the wrap would actually highlight any defects/issues with the paint more than if it was just the paint. I've been honest about the front wings, thats the only thing i'm not 100% happy with the car. could have easily kept quite though

Thanks Paulie, not in kirkcaldy no. It was a lad from Dundee that done it. Let me know & I can forward on his details if you want?

Can always come & have a look to when your down here? (if I've still got it)

I would say more people would be interested in viewing this after reading whats been done .good luck with the sale

Thanks Bud. I'm waiting for Barry Fimister from Autotint in Kdy to get back to me by email. He's supposed to be very good at wrapping as well as tints, so will see what he has to say. Would be great to see your car in the flesh, if you still have it by then! Will be down the week beginning 18th July. Will send you a PM nearer the time and keep an eye on your for sale thread. :)

Thanks Lingy,

Paulie - Barry has just done a few bits on a mate's mk5 r32, looks a good job.

i'm on holiday from the 17th for a week :( sorry mate.

Ahh, never mind. You enjoy your hols and all the best with selling the car. I doubt you'll have any probs, ..bet you'll miss it though, I know I would.
