Hi all, I'm in need of a bit of help regarding going big turbo!

Currently running the same set up that Welly was running on his KO4 Hybrid, But shattered my blades on my turbo!
I want to go big turbo but unsure what manifold and turbo to go for, looking for about 350/400 BHP that's reliable with out to much lag :)

Can any of you guys help please thanks

i was thinking of going for that i do want it to be a top mount just been looking a the vf34 any one running one ?

I'm not aware of anyone running a VF34 in top mount config on here. Jonny87 had a VF34, but that was underslung, and has since been sold.

Beware of what you read online, there is a lot of bull**** out there.

GT2871 top mount is popular, and should see the 350-370 region with not that much lag.

Whats happened to ScoobyRa's vf jobbie?

i know ive found that out lol I think im going to go for a gt3071r with the cts manifold

i dont mind a big of lag as lag is nothing but foreplay lmaoooo

ive just sent my k04 hybrid off to cr turbos for them to fix it so i can sell it as a complete kit

where is the best place to source the turbo from ?

thanks

VF range, you can pick up vf22 for under £300 and get the manifold from JBS etc. well thats my plan is for the summer. if only my mate is going to build me the top mount mani I want then a few more bits should see me aroud 320bhp & 300ft/lbs as I don't want to do the internals at the moment

i want to go external gated i like the idea of a screamer pipe :D

Illegal and not practical for every day as it would do your head in after time trust me i went in my mates RS Turbo with a screamer pipe and it was so loud it was really bad on the motorways as it was screaming all the time nearly

true i was just thinking of that i will just have it put back in to exhuast :)

what turbo are you running and where is the best place to get it from ?

i am going for the gt3071r but unsure on which exhuast hosuing was thing .63 to get leg a min

what do you thinks best

thanks for your help

thanks where is the best place to get a gt3071r from are you using the cts manifold on your thanks

Driftworks can also supply Genuine Garrett turbo`s. Only a tiny bit more than GT3^ Their service is exellent and you usually get some sweets with your order haha

I wouldn't touch gt3 turbo but that's just my opinion based on previous orders and their inability to deliver on time or reply to emails.

If you want a turbo, manifold, downpipe you should call the likes of CTS, backdraft etc, get some prices for kits

Good point, I had forgotten about that...

It blew up!!

Not the best idea in the world seeing as it's running a fair bit of boost and it's crammed down the back of the block with no air and toooooooooooooooo much heat. I think it's in Jamie Oliver's recipe book under Disaster!

Hi Tony,

If you don't mind me asking do you know what caused your turbo failure yet ?

I am assuming its your compressor wheel that has shattered blades (foriegn body ingestation etc) ?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the update.

Indeed the compressor housing inlet is machined to a very thin wall thickness to accomodate the 2283 wheel.. so over tightening the grub screws could certainly damage it..
