Popped along the autostrada from Monaco to Venice at the weekend with the girlfriend and on the way back stopped in to see Nigel (NHN) near Padova to finally get my '11 SB rear lights fitted!

Went down the professional "wire in and new Audi connecters" route instead of the kufatec looms you can buy. Also pretty cool, Nigel managed to get all 3 bulbs on each side acting as brake lights (2 outer and the fog on the boot).

Really happy with them, just need to get some OEM xenons for the front end and some wheels and I'm happy

Cheers again Nigel and for the cuppa and biscuits.

Good mod mate! One of the sportbacks trump cards lol

lmao Khufu, Phil whom converted his S3 8P2 to an 8P3 is looking into custom fittings them somehow to his 3dr... can't quite remember what he said regarding doing it though. It's on vagoc...

LOL, cutting up the tailgate is one thing but the actual body of the car... gulp

Will pop over & have a look..

This post is confusing me, maybe being originally from Italy. is Nigel (NHN) living in Italy?

Nice mod, seen a few SB from Sweden around and the lights are like this during the day with LED DRL at the front

Am i missing something here? Are they not just LED tail lights?

I'm looking to fit the LED tail lights to my motor soon, what's the difference between those above (which look smart as BTW) and LED ones you get on the sport back S3's?

Ah i see mate, what does this mean then 'Nigel managed to get all 3 bulbs on each side acting as brake lights?'

I don't get it, whats the difference?

Sorry guys, I live in the south of France and bought some LED rear lights from Audi in Leeds, UK, Where I'm from but because its a mission driving home just to get these wired and coded in, I managed to find out nigel spends a bit of time in italy.... Hence it saying italiano style, thats the only Italian bit!

As for the 3 bulbs on each side, the only facelift Sbortbacks I've seen have only the 2 outer brake lights that light up on either side, not all the way across, I'll take a picture this evening of them lit up.

I have the facelift lights fitted and pretty sure the lens in the fog light is different so looks brighter if used as a brake light than the ones originally designed for the brake lights... Pic would be good to see if this is true or not.

They are brighter! I tried this mod on my car. Didn't like it. I wouldn't like so stay behind at a stop while you keep the foot on the brake.

think this will definately be happening to my SB back soon!

Is it a straight plug and play with the lights or do you need a different loom for them to work?

Would also like to see what you mean by the 3 brake lights :D

You need a loom from Kufatec or have someone (NHN?) to change some wires. Also you need some coding.

Those look really smart, matey. Liking them a lot. :)

As soon as I find a nice Sportback I'll be getting this done too. Do you know if there are options of LED tailights like there are on the 3 door? I mean on the 3 door there are the light and dark ones ('09 and '11 I think) is it the same case for the 5 door?

I was going to get a company called Hazzydayz to do the job as they list the full conversion on their website for £310 +vat. Does this seem a fair price, or would it be much cheaper buying the lights from Audi, the loom from Kufatec and the coding from someone else?

Thanks,
Dan

Sorry, I hope you don't think it rude of me jumping in on your thread.

It's no problem, this forum is for everyone isn't it?

I dont think there is an option on shades of darkness, if there were I would have defo got the dark ones! I guess theres a few people out there that do fit them but to be honest Nigel on here (NHN) did the job for me, he knows what he's doing and used all genuine Audi parts but use whoever is easiest for you.

Here is a night time pic, rubbish I know but couldn't get any better....... I really cant tell from the camera and naked eye, Only way of checking is pulling the bulbs out and checking wattage. They all look mega bright if you ask me, just don't get so close when I'm at some traffic lights and you'll be fine!
