Looking at buying a polisher, just wondering if anyone could advice me on the best one avalible through past experience for between 100-150??

also should i go for a rotary or D.A one??

cheers, nathan

I bought a Porter Cable 7424 after finding out that most pro detailers swear by it. Its a random orbital which means its extremely hard to damage your paint with it.

Only downside is that it's US only so will need a transformer to run.

But well worth it if you're going to go down this route :)

The meguairs G220 is better than the PC 7427 (and i have the 7424) doesnt require an adaptor either.

Get a random orbital first then upgrade to a rotary once you are familiar with techniques and products.

Dodo Juice now have their own machine but im not familiar with it, im sure its great so you could go for that if your use their products?

Edit* Just had a look and the Dodo Juice is a kestrel DAS-6 with a different name, its a very good Orbital but no different to the megs G220 so jsut go for which is cheapest

Megs is a nice bit of kit but expensive compared to kestrel das or dodo or clean you car (cyc) version. Personally I'd get the cheaper version and get the kestrel sim180 rotary to go with it for the same money as a megs g220, that way you have best of both worlds, large panels and difficult bits use the DA until you are confident, for big defects and bad swirl marks use the rotary, within a month you will use nothing else especially on rock hard audi paint!! If you have the bottle go straight for the rotary and find a scrap panel to practice on first.

thanks for all the advice!

Think im going to go for a d.a one first like youve all said to then build up confidence and learn how to handle one properly before going rotary.

Really am stuck between these two though

PB DAS-6 Hard Paint Polishing Kit | Machine Polishing Kit For Cars With Hard Paint

PB G220 Hard Paint Polishing Kit | Machine Polishing Kit For Cars With Hard Paint

Hard choices lol....swaying towards the megs one though tbh

also going to purchase PB Foam Gun Kit | Pre-Wash Snow Foam Car Cleaning Kit - has anyone ever used or owned one of these??

as i havent got a jet wash so only route to go down with snow foam :)

I have a Flex VRG DA and a Festool Shinex Rotary

For a beginner the Flex machine is a wicked piece of kit just a bit on the expensive side
Id rather pay a bit extra and get a machine thats up to the Task

Yeah i had that kit until i was able to use a jetwash version. Its very good for what it is but does go through product quickly. You are better off with a good two bucket method and put the money towards something else, thats what i would do.

Just get which ever machine mate, the results will be the same from both, its just which you prefer the look of to be honest.

Defo a DA if your new to it. Harder to inflict damage.

yer thats fair enough, as i did think £80 was a bit steap for it, as i only want it for the novelty side of it haha...

i prefer the meguiars one so i think im going to get that ordered today :D

anyone know a good place to get it from, or shall i just go for polsihedbliss.co.uk??

I'm new to detailing so I bought a Megs G220 and love it!

Ive bought a porter cable ,youll never go back to doing it by hand m8 ,good choice there as well

cheers mate, hope not lol

i know someone who has one of those and it produces stunning results, so hopefully mine will :D

you wont be disappointed mate, i had a DAS 6 once and it worked well for me. you will never look back now mate

hopefully not....

right hope to anyone reading this is doesnt sound thick ha, but been looking over a lot of detailing guides etc. What is the 2 bucket method lol?

really simple question and i sound stupid now haha

In A Nut Shell qwick rundown
You fill one with nice clean water the other with your car shampoo with each panel you wash you rinse the washmit out in the bucket of clean water before putting it back into the shampoo bucket. It goes without saying that the lower's of the car will have to be done last as these area's will have heavy build up. Power wash your car first to remove the surface dirt and traffic film before doing the above.

as above its a PITA to use i think but saves all those nasty swirls ,maybe a grit guard bucket would be a good investment ,ive not forked out for one yet though

Nathan, bought exact same kit last month from pb, but not used it yet. Let me know how you get on.

should be here hopefully tomorrow, and am going to have a full day sunday trying it so ill update you how i get on when i do mate.
Looks and sounds very good for the money anyway so am happy at the amount ive spent
