Now then guys, this thread will probably bore (or disgust) most of you but here goes...

I've just purchased a Rolls Royce of a car today- a 1999 Peugeot 306 1.4

Now before you all get stuck in please consider the following;

Its taxed until March 2011
It runs as sweet as a nut- clean oil, no hesitation or missfire and no blue smoke etc
Most things work (as in heaters, lights, wipers etc)
Tyres are all very good
It drives well

The bad bits-
It will need MOT'ing this week
It needs a new drivers side wing mirror (already otw from ebay at £15)
The passenger side front door doesn’t open from the outside (easy fix apparently)
There’s a bit of a dent and scrape in the o/s rear door
It needs a good valet

I paid £100 for it.

I don't really know why I decided to buy it but I suppose at that price I cant lose out- the Mrs can have it for the supermarket and gym and in the process it will save mine from the people that always manage to find my car to open their doors onto! I like having something to tinker with anyway

Now I'm going to get it up in the air over the weekend to check wheels bearings, gaiters and brake lines etc. Before I send it for its MOT has anyone on here over owned one of these- is there anything common to look out for?

The only decent forum I can find is a Gti-6 forum and I don’t think it will be much use to this lowly 75bhp shopping trolley...

I know an Audi forum probably isn’t the best place to post this but any input would be good folks.

Cheers

A good forum is:

Barryboys.co.uk

Hope that helps :)

Only messing mate, im not too sure to be honest, cant really help im afraid,

Lol, it is a bit peasant like for an Audi forum isnt it lol. I'm going to crawl under it this weekend and if theres anthing more than a CV boot knackered I'm flogging it. I think I had a silly moment- I spend more than £100 at the supermarket sometimes though so its not exacly hurt me in the pocket.

I might have a go at banger racing :)

pug306.net is the one u need mate.

i had 3 of these cars in my younger years. a 1.4 a 1.9Dturbo and GTi-6 all fun and easy to work on. the GTI-6 was pure headache for problems tho.
