Hi people.

I did a quick search through the forum but didnt come across any posts that matched my problem.

When I reverse then brake there is one loud clunk which comes from N.S. front. The noise only happens when travelling in reverse and the brake is applied.

I am pretty sure it is the pad moving in the caliper which is making the clunking noise but I havnt had the wheel off yet to have a look.

Anybody else experienceed this problem ??

Car is an '07 S3.

yep, its the brake pad, and yep its normal.

Thanks for the reply.

The car is still under warranty. . . what you think is the chances of them agreeing to do something about it ??

as its normal, pretty much zero chance. I've had the pads replaced in mine less than a thousand miles ago due to the unbearable squealing, and the new set do it too.

Yep, but I don't get a clunk, just a little squeal similar to when you get a stone-chip stuck.

I used to get the clunk on my last A3, and it was the brakes as said.
My current A3 doesn't do it though.
Must just be some do and some don't.
