Hi SootySport, Here are the screen grabs of the error reports.
Unless I have some special Audi A3 8P with advanced system monitoring powered by Unicorn dust, it is fair to say that the two issues I had are monitored by the CANbus system.
Faffing today to repair some of the previous owners' attempts at chaving up my car.
Problem - The foot well lights and boot light not working.
No power to either circuits, fuses OK, needed to reset error codes to get power back to circuits.
Now got power for about 2 seconds.
After repairing...
Havn't seen this procedure described anywhere but I thought it should work and it has made a huge difference to the power of my diesel engine.
I had no way of timing the two cam shafts to the bottom crank of the engine as on my Audi A3 there is no room to see or use sprocket locks on the crank...
I am with Abi. Through my own experience of a faulty stalk installed, the ECU is probably good enough to ignore dodgy signals from it. The extra signal wire issue is probably better answered by taking apart your steering column and having a look at the larger connector of the steering ECU and...
Try Ebay search on "audi a3 8p cruise control" looking at about 50 quid at the mo. item number 273755493871 is 35 quid but you may have to replace the indicator stalk with your old one. (assuming the part number fits ...)
Reading through all the comments on the retro fit guide is useful as many members have solved and shared pitfall issues. I would recommend getting your steering column apart as a practice run and to get the part code of the ECU and check wire "13" exists in the black plug before buying a cruise...
Thanks Ike and Ch1z64. I have a printout of thread 79127 (thanks to Staz and all) and checked the long code in Central Convenience (inc B8b7@Zero) but no audible confirmation on the alarm yet. when I get chance, I will continue digging and see if I can find a Solution.:readit:
Thank you Ike. I have checked and have these bits set (or not) but still no joy. There are also a few bits set I don't have documents for yet so I suspect something else is blocking this feature.
Here is the video I promised showing the modified spring on the arm rest...
Played with the Central Electrics module today - got rid of a few irritations. Removed "Comfort" 3 blink indicator ([09] Byte 02 Bit 1) and seat belt bing,bing,bing,bing,bing... Also activated "teardrop" wiping on rear window and Emergency Hazard lights on heavy breaking. Nice :)
Still need to...
It was off ebay and the last one. However here is a video of the same thing with the spring. The video ends with the spring not working.

Pause it at 9 seconds and you can see the spring.
I moved the ends of the spring to inside the legs where it lodges...
Yeh as from my first post:
The car is TDI SPORT 8P A5 Mk2 2004 with three prong steering wheel with only DSG flappy paddles.
Glad this was just a poorly re-assembled switch switch :)
Gah! - found the answer. Second hand stalk from Ebay was not assembled properly. One slider on circuit board not located correctly so sending dodgy signals. All back together and working well :welcoming:
Thanks Abmat for your suggestion.:icon thumright:
Hi,
Fitted cruise control to my car yesterday using the superb "how to" by Avus and Sijones, and coded it in but will not work no matter what I try.
Hoping one of you knowledgable geniuses can spot what I have done wrong.
