I had both handbrake cables replaced but they cant be reconnected to the handbrake because the handbrake has self-adjusted too far, and mechanic tells me i need to get a new handbrake lever now?
Is there no way of resetting the old handbrake? I would have thought there was??

That is the kind of direction I needed. When the battery was changed I remember it being very difficult to get in there, but not about it being wet underneath, but i will check the footwell for dampness. I think there could be something in what you say.

I have a problem starting my car, that I know is related to the lights but am unsure what part needs to be replaced? It will only start with parking lights on. I read on another forum that it is the headlight switch? What is that? a fuse? or the part for turning on the lights? Is anyone...

I replaced both brake lights, seems one had fallen out and the other blown, and had already left the original brakelght switch in place and everything was working fine again.
In hindsight I should probably have done that first.. but I assumed both...
