That bit of trim is for the rear LHS where you found it. It clips on to the edge of the panel nearest the outside of the car. The slot in it is for the cable for a swiveling trailer hitch. Steve

I have quite a few surplus bits left over that I have accumulated from doing the retrofits on my 2010 S6 Avant. Unused Kufatec reversing camera cable kit with only the long green FAKRA cable from front to back missing...

Presume you have a 2G MMI system? In which case the reverse camera works differenly to my 3G version.

You can also go into the A/C settings on the MMI and select the option to synchronise both sides. This will remain until you turn it off

Yes, faulty sensor disables all the PDC system (including camera if fitted) with the symptom you describe. Steve
