Just an update. Replacement motor arrived today - I opted for a secondhand genuine Valeo unit for £55 off eBay instead of a new Chinese copy at £60. I don’t have much confidence in some of the cheap electrical tat on offer. It literally is a 15 minute job, if that, but I did have to borrow a...
Just an update on this - may help someone else in the future. I popped the panel off of the tailgate and it was obvious what my problem was for both faults. The washer water that is piped through the wiper motor had been leaking into the motor and dripping out of just about every orifice. You...
I’m getting water leaking out of my tailgate when I open it. It’s coming out around the panel that stores the warning triangle and drips into the boot. Coincidentally (or maybe not) my rear wiper is playing up too - stopping intermittently and not in the correct position. I’m wondering whether...
Take the wheel off and soak it with a weak soapy solution. Wait. For a slow puncture like you appear to have, it may take a minute or two but what you are looking for is a fine foam to appear. That’s your slow puncture. Make sure you soak the valve and the wheel bead area as well as the tread...
On the same subject, in the tool kit there should be a credit card sized piece of flexible plastic. That is for removing the towing eye covers without damaging the paintwork. Oh, and the plastic screwdriver handle has a 17mm hex recessed in the end of it. Use that for fitting and starting off...
To be honest, I didn't look too carefully but as it was up the top, it could have just been the seal between the pump and the head. I changed the cam belt and associated pulleys and tensioner about a year ago and I always change the water pump on belt driven water pumps but as this was on the...
Lots of looks but no replies. lol. Anyway, all done now. CBA with getting pattern parts so I bought the lot from Audi and the pump, complete with housing and thermostat etc plus a new toothed drive belt came to £203. Not bad for OE parts when you consider that a local motor factor wanted £190...
My wife had to turn back on her trip to work this morning as she got a warning light/buzzer that the coolant was low. There was some coolant on the under tray and I noticed some water pooling around the water pump area. It’s done just under 60k so I’m going to replace the pump and belt anyway...
No problem putting them on the jacking points but won’t the Jack already be there? I normally find somewhere solid such as the chassis rail or the front suspension crossmember.
