mine does it a little sometimes in 6th coming up to 2000rpm. It makes max torque at 2200rpm and the torque rises rapidly before that point, so i thought mine was the Dual Mass flywheel grumbling a bit. mine makes 320lb/ft torque.
generic map will work fine if from a reputable tuner.
a custom might get a little bit more power, but will cost extra.
induction and exhaust mods, will help make power through out the rev range but mostly at the top end of the rev range.
i have an 04 2.0 tdi 140 and i'm averaging about 42-43mpg overall. with a stage one remap. I'm gonna try a full service and see if it makes any difference.
I try to use super diesel and use the Fuel system cleaner stuff too.
On my 106 Rallye Turbo, we started it up and mapped the idle and low throttle stuff, changed oil, finished mapping of wide open throttle etc, changed oil. Then i did it again after a couple hundred miles. it doesnt need anymore than that.
wouldnt make a blind bit of difference to power or torque.
If it has shorter ratios, then it will feel like its accelerating through the gears quicker.

Ah fair enough mate! if Owen's suggest what you got then who's to argue lol!
I just dont know of too many people using the HTA's and it'd be nice to hear there experiences.
What sort of figures you looking at once its finished?
Yea probs sub 900kg. previously it was 385bhp @23psi & 345ft/lb...
Have none of you big turbo guys thought about the HTA turbos from Owen Developments?
I run a GT2868HTA on my 106 Rallye and its an extremely impressive turbo!! Makes a GTX2867 look pony! Only down side is the price, but then again you get what you pay for!
