About a month after my last post, I eventually get fed up with all the 'common' faults that I experienced with the A6:
- The engine/oil smell through the vents
- Sticky electric windows
- This gear crunching business
- And a few other bits and bobs.
Perhaps I was unlucky to get a bad...
If you want to stick with the RNS-D then have a look at this for MP3 playback:

I had a Dension Icelink Plus for about 2 weeks- worked great with my Concert stereo but then I upgraded to the RNS-D sat nav unit and it started playing up with that.
I now have the Kenwood Media Unit which accepts almost any input source-USB, phono, Ipod, 3.5mm etc. and you get the track...
I did the same conversion on my 2000 A6 a few months back. Had to do a bit of research on how to replace the back cage- the hardest part in my opinion.
It seems like a straight forward job at first but then you realise you have to pretty much take out the entire central console and the panels...
These Audis seems to have many 'common/known faults'! On my A6 I've had the 'sticky windows' problem; 'wiper motor burn out' problem; the 'oil burnt smell in cabin' problem and now the 'clunky gearbox' problem! Are Audis really german built cars?!
I used to have a Jag XJ before my A6 and...
Just doing a search on the forums and I was shocked to see all these other people with similar problems!
I have the same problem as the original poster- crunch/clunk noise between 1st and 2nd gear on my 2000 Audi A6 2.4 with 70K miles on the clock. Seems like it would be difficult (and...
Well I believe the main differences are that the Concert II has a CD slot as opposed to the tape on the I. It also has a better LCD information display.
If you are getting it very cheap then it's ok else I would just buy an aftermarket one or like what I did, do a conversion to the Audi Sat...
It's not a quattro, just a 2.4 SE model. I'm not too concerned about the overall tyre diameter- I've already check this using a 'tyre calculator' and the diameter is within the 2% recommended value of the original diameter.
More of a concern is the clearance of the arches. I would go for...
Hi all,
First post here; I got referred to this site....
Question is as per subject really. I'm thinking of getting a staggered set of 19" alloys for my A6. I have seen a set but I'm concerned about the rear wheel/tyre dimensions: 265/30/19 9.5J. Any idea if this combo would clear the...
