Lynallbel, do you have a B8 A4?
If you do then you may have noticed that firstly they don't have dip sticks and secondly to get and oil reading on the MMI you need to have warmed the engine and then let it stand for a couple of minutes.
Sorry - just seen this and I don't recall responding to it. I've no problem plugging up and running a diag for you. I'm not expert at all and hence interpreting the output isn't my forte but I can certainly use my VCDS to let you know what's logged.
I've got factory tints and they're dark enough for me.
Main reason for the post is to say that if you've got B&O then ensure the electrics are properly protected as I've seen posts in the US where the water used in applying the tint has fried their ICE :(

The B6 A4's had a similar windscreen issue. When my S4 needed it's screen replaced I told them I wanted OEM Pilkington. The called the insurer, warned me it would take 24 hours and then it was done.
I'd always go for OEM if poss.
I don't have to reset mine for auto to work.
Are you sure that you're just not thinking they're not working due to the initial activation speed?
