One can, indeed must, still employ human anticipation in conjunction with CC. On a motorway I stay awake by engaging CC (not ACC) and then attempting (usually succesfully) to anticipate the traffic so as not to have to touch brakes or gas. The odd click + or - on the CC stalk suffice for most...
If one is concerned about economy and is happy to drive at 60mph an A3 is a much better buy than an S3.
Driving my plain 1.5 A3 at just over 70 I regularly get around 50mpg. Coming back from Wales with a lot of 50/60 limits on the Motorway I got nuddging 60mpg with 100 octane; cruise control...
Thanks for that info, hope the horse survived. Could not find any stories about exactly what had happened. Odd thing is while searching for the story discovered that the M11 was closed in May last year because 12 horses did get on the motorway at about the same place, near Harlow.
A friend of...
Thanks for that, I will take it seriously next time the Sat Nav changes route. When on a often used route (not often enough I hear my Mother say:blush:) I have the Nav voice turned off which may account for me no getting any other warning. Notice of the closure was on the warning message list...
Was driving home (East London) from visiting Mother in Saffron Walden last night. I always drive down to the Stansted junction (J8) of the M11 which takes me down to the North Circular. I am almost certain I had set the Sat Nav for home via J8 as always.
Well when I got a mile or so from J8...
price no but if there is a shortage I may have to drive faster to get to a pump before it runs out.
Nb when you take into account the mpg of modern cars, price of fuel, inflation etc, then I would wager running a car is still much cheaper than it was 30-40 years ago and still will be even if...
Continuing off topic after Brexit (if it happens) I see no reason why any plates with the EU flag need changing while driving in the UK but on the continent I suspect we will be required to have GB plates on the rear with no EU flag. Before we went into the EU GB plates where only required on...
I pressed the horn button for the first time. This car really does have a decent voice.
Massive truck sitting in the middle lane of the M11 doing 55mph nothing in front of it as far as the eye could see. Gave him long horn blast as I went by just because I could and he scurried off straight...
In Snowdonia last month and DAB reception must have been marginal, could get nought on the separate Dab radio I had with me, went and sat in the A3 and got a load of stations including all the BBC ones.
Thankfully I do not have this nonsense option, going to sound like a tech phobe (I am not) but I would not tolerate anything controlling the application of my brakes that was capable of any mistake, certainly not mistakes as frequent as described here.
I say frequent in comparison with my own...
