All looked good. The follower was smooth the coating was wearing off but the surface was smooth cam and fuel pump looked good.

I replaced an OEM cam follower recently with a Febi part and I'm getting a really rough noise at startup from the HPFP.
It's the second time I've replaced the cam follower and have double checked the pump was refited properly, all good.
Has anyone had a similar experince with aftermarket cam...
I'll have to get the pump off eventually as it's only a matter of time until the chain tensioner needs doing. It's a shame that a previous
owner or mechanic stripped the head of one vacum pump bolt.
That's a fun job for the future!
After months of topping up coolant I finally got round to replacing the flange on Friday.
Yes it can be done without removing the pump.
It is quite challenging, some might say a right pain the backside :salute:
Thanks Sandra
I’ve already booked tickets for the USS Intrepid.
I’ll be waiting for them to open the doors on Sunday morning. The Concorde has been taken away which is shame, but I’m more interested in the Navy planes.
I’ve gone back to 17”’s with a bit more tyre. I did have plans for this car but my camper van needs attention, the avant is being relegated to maintenance and comfort jobs only. No more mods, unless they are very cheap.
Guys, I’ve got a set of alloys with 3x good tyres (Goodyear) and 1 that has some sidewall damage that have got to go.
They are being stored temporarily at work in Hemel and if anyone wants to collect they are yours to take. They need
a refurb really and I can’t keep them at work and don’t have...
Awesome! Thanks for the info, sorry for the late response. I’m going to New York next week and trip planning has taken over any free time :icon thumright:
