    Hello mate, just been reading your post from back in 2015
    "I've recently been noticing this odd noise, it's like a spinning/grinding sound"
    I'm having the the same problem, all be it on a Audi TT TDI Mk3, so just if you ever resolved the issue?

    Alright mate, I've still got the car & it's still making the noise!!.. I've drawn on the conclusion it's a slightly iffy turbo actuator. when the turbo boosts & then lets off, that's when you hear it.

    A mate of mine had exactly the same noise & thought it was the turbo, he replaced his turbo only to find the noise was still there however he reused his old actuator.

    Sorry can't be much more help.
